The ford...After driving pickups, I don't understand why anyone would want one as a primary vehicle. Sure you can haul all kinds of sh!t, but they are lofty to drive and get crappy mileage.

The BMW...fvck that, high insurance, insane maintenance, guessing mileage ain't too pretty, and god forbid something goes bad

Yes, that's why I'm kinda leaning away from the pickup, as for the Vette, yes with a 6-speed, it can achieve 30mpg on the highway (25 for the auto).

Anyways, I like the vette is because, I'm short 5' 3" and would like something easy to clean, and load things into. The vette (coupe version) has some nice room in the trunk. So tempting.

The bimmer gets 23 on the highway, and is fairly, nice. The 4.4 has quite some oomph to it.

This is an absurd list to choose from, as everyone else said.

They are all pretty bad choices for a college student. In all honesty, I think the best college student choice of vehicle would be a small to medium SUV. (like a Grand Cherokee) You can haul your stuff around, you can haul your friends around, but not something that is a PITA to park or something you'll be constantly worried about people stealing, getting scratched, etc.

That's what insurance is for. :)
If you ever met me you'd know that I don't worry about these things too much.

Easy, the Bimmer all the way.

Bimmer - proper accepted slang for BMW cars. Most people don't know this.

Beamer/Beemer - proper accepted slang for BMW motorcycles. You will hear this term used incorrectly by many people.

Bummer - When you get a speeding ticket.

Bitter - Another German car. Very rare; hand built.

But anyways, I jsut wanted to have this little poll, because this isn't a car forum and there would be little biasedness.

Here are the three cars that I plan to buy one of:

2000-2002 Corvette Coupe
2000 BMW 540i with sport package and fully loaded
2004 F-150 Crew Cab, pretty much barebones.

They're all the around the same price, and are have less then 30k mi.

Which one would you choose and why?

Thanks to whomever.

5 series hands down

GTaudiophile, by maintenance do you mean oils, filters, fluids? Because I will be doing those myself.

Or are you talking about something breaking down.

tell me where you plan to do your oil/fluids/filter while on a college campus, most likely in a dorm.

and how the fvck are you geting 1600 a year for insurance on those cars.

MIKE

I'm not looking for prestige. I'm looking for a car that is fun to drive, and that is not BFU. (Plain is another one, IE GTO)

That's what everyone says, until you come out to find your car keyed to hell and back, or find it outside with a window smashed in the snow.

But that's not even the biggest deal - I'm just saying those are impractical choices. I drove a nice sportscar throughout college, but in retrospect, I would have been better off with a (newish) 4 door SUV.

I'm not downplaying the fun of owning a sportscar - but in all honesty I don't think college is the right time for it. The speeding tickets are a bitch and when it comes time to get together with all your buddies, you'll ALWAYS be taking someone else's ride.

That's why I'm debating whether to get a truck. I also chose the 540i because it's nice and roomy sedan.

I would choose the 540i sedan. First, the F150 is going to lose value quicker than the Vette or 540i. The vette would be the funnest vehicle but the 540i would probably be more pleasant for day to day driving and it can still haul ass pretty good. have you test driven each to see what you like?

im not a big fan of bmw's, so i voted vette... however, if you plan on having more than 2 ppl (vette seats only 2, right?) then i'd go w/ 540

That's such a dumb poll I refuse to respond. Hmm, a truck or a corvette or a BMW sedan. Could you get any more different between them?

Regardless of poll results you will buy what you originally were leaning to, or end up leaning towards by test driving them or whatever. By this I mean that these 'which car' polls on AT never make much of a difference in swaying anybody's purchase decision.

Did you buy it then? You said you were going last night!

I did go last night. Cool car, but I think I'm gonna go with the Vette. Time will tell.
Thanks for voting guys.
