help me pick a car, i have 20k to spend

i saved up quite a little bit of cash , and i think it is time for me to buy a new car.

i'm looking for something that's sport-like, automatic transmission.... (okay lot of people are laughing at me right now, but i don't care, this is what i want) it doesn't have to be fast, i just want it to 'look' fast.

people were telling me to get GT300, i have no idea what it is. sounds expensive.

it could be used, maybe as far back as 98? any ideas? (and 20k is my absolute limit, i just like to pay for it outright)

02 Subaru rs - its sporty and reliable

i say go new car ! u get a warranty and know that u are the only owner of it!

the spec v sentra is a good choice too

also the tiburon looks pretty keen; may not be the fastest car...but a 100k warranty and ferrari styling go pretty well w/ me

rallispec, what do you think of that se-R anyway? What did you drive before?

R.

Nissan driven!

GT300? You mean the Mitsubishi 3000GT by any chance?

If you want to LOOK fast, but not really have to go fast, get a Honda Civic w/ a body kit on it. Don't forget about 100 decals as well 😉.

I think the Acura RSX automatic is very near your price range
the Nissan Sentra SE-R automatic is definately in your range, although the Spec V version fits also but is stick (but this car ROCKS)
Infiniti G20 auto is around your range (it has some factory incentives on it right now)
Subaru Impreza 2.5RS auto.
Volkwagen GTI auto

Not really sure about used cars.

Out of those 5, I would stay away from the RSX cuz all the others have some form of limited slip differential. The RSX has none. The Sentra SE-R has none, but the Spec V has it (but it's stick shift). The G20 has it on the Sports option. The Impreza I'm not too sure what kind of diff it has, but it's AWD so that should be fun.
And the GTI I heard has a really nice interior and is also a fun drive. Personally I like the way the G20 looks.

that's my 2 cents

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i honestly cant say enough good things about the car.
before this i drove a 2000 sentra Xe (seen here)
and before that i drove a 1993 honda civic DX sedan

if you want to know anything about the car let me know-- i'd be happy to share 🙂

Excellent advice.

Lots of stickers = at least 20 more HP

Hey, you're such a good saver, are you sure you want to blow it all on a car? You've already got the right mentality. This is a golden opportunity for you to get an older car that is still cool and in good shape (like an old MR2 maybe) and invest the rest in something that will appreciate rather than depreciate.

BTW, the Mitsu3000GT's were reliability NIGHTMARES.

You'd be better off going with a nicely maintained '99 Eclipse GS-T or GSX and opting for an extended warranty.

thanks guys.... that gives me an idea of what to look for on several websites .....

you guys aren't the weakest link... 😀

YOu want to look fast but don't care about speed? Want a comfortable ride?

Get the new Tiburon..meets your specs to a T.

181 HP isn't *that* bad...

Just go to dealers & test drive a lot of cars & see which one you like the best. We can reccomend ones that have certain features, but either way you want a car that appeals to YOU, not us.
