You're spoiled, go whine somewhere else.

that is exactly what I was thinking. If I was your dad, you choices would be:

1) Move, stfu and be happy about it
2) stay in detriot, pay your own rent, and never ask me for anything again (ie, you will be disowned).

Jeez, being bribed to move... talk about spoiled

This is the funniest thing I've read all year.

Paying you to move with the family? Hell, I'd say you'd better be in the damn car or you'll live on the street.

What the hell is wrong with parents these days?

I say move and get the experience. Before I moved to Troy, Michigan, I lived in 3 other countries, 6 different cities and 7 different schools...don't regret it one bit and didn't have a choice either.

My friend has an even better idea. He needs to spend the $10,000 and send your ass to military school. Look out for the soap-in-a-sock.

i do not see anything wrong with his parents. They decided that the move will affect him the most and decided that he should have the decision on this matter. If he moves, he will be in a city, will lose al of his friends, starting school with out knowing anyone. Not have any to hang out with then parents, not know anything about the city and having any friends will make him bored etc

it will affect him the most? How do you figure? What about his parents who will have to start new jobs without knowing anyone? Or who will have to financially support the family? What if their new job(s) doesn't work out? Who will have to pay the mortgage?

Won't they not know anything about the city and also have no friends there yet?

What a joke.

Moving is reality. Ask any military kid. What, we're going to start paying a teenager 6 months wages of some families so that he doesn't have to deal with life?

Hey, kid.. Whoever you are.. Lemme say that I'm glad that you're not moving to my part of the world... Now, hear me out here.. I don't blame you for being spoiled.. No one is born spoiled nor did you make yourself spoiled.. That's why I think any anger/frustration focused onto you by memebers of this forum is slightly unjustified.... But, please, understand this: it is not normal, healthy behavior for parents to pay-off their own child in order to move... Even if your parents had 2.5 billion dollars in the bank I would say that it's wrong.. Think about the situation - they worked their entire lives and THEY feel the need to move. They love you so much that they would like your input.. That's wonderful.. Sit down with them and talk this out.. The mature thing to do is to realize that, barring unusual circumstances (disabilities, etc.), your parents hopes and wishes should come before yours. The fact that they're willing to pay you $10,000 is testament to their strong desire to move. If you were a mature individual, reject the bribe.. Understand that your parents will help you out if the move terribly inconveniences you (if you need a car I'm sure they'll help you out at that point) and taking a bribe for something that you should be doing anyways speaks volumes about your character and your love (or lack of) of your parents.. I'm rambling now but, please, do the mature thing for the good of your parents.. As far as friends go - I did move from one state to another when I was in highschool - the casual friends from my old evaporated but I did make new and better friends.. My best friend remains my best friend and we speak everyday via email /im (and see each other whenever possible).. Change is what life is about..

I just can't believe your parents are trying to bribe you to move.
I have had to move with my family to 3 different cities, and even more times within the same cities. I didn't want to move but i had no say.

It will suck at first but you will make new friends

There are way to many assclowns on this board.

Anyway regardless of the money I would move, it will be good for you it'll teach you how to adjust to change and prepare you for college if that is something your planning on doing.

You should take the 5k and buy a car and then take the 10k and invest it in the stock market, bonds, or cd's and use it for college.

Send your ass to military school. You asked for opinions, you got them. Was everyone supposed to agree with you?

I wish it was my foot in your ass right about now.

I live in Tucson right now, UofA, and I have to say the weather is very nice. It is hot, but not too hot, a few degrees cooler than phoenix. From what i've seen of tucson, around the campus, it is pretty ghetto, however I hear that further form campus it is a lot nicer. So go for the move, nice whether, very nice girls at UofA (have to wear less, so hot :) ). Go for it, meet new people
