Why collect movies at all?
Anything a few months old is on demand digital HD.

I don't understand people who collect movies... do you ever repeat watch them?
The only people I know who repeat watch movies are children.

I think some people see a movie in the theater and have a wonderful experience.
It really sticks out in their minds due to the size and sound and adrenaline rush.
Similar to other drugs, they want to relive the experience.
The experience is gone and will never happen again with the same movie.

It's a waste to collect movies.

Then it's not for you. I repeat watch movies all the time.

You can collect digital files with more options through piracy.

It is ABSOLUTELY stupid to collect digital downloads/streams over blu-rays. Not that I'm proud of blu-rays or anything, but any collection needs to have physical, tangible assets.

Also, many blurays come with digital copies these days.

I hate those stupid things. The code expires and you have to talk to real people and they may or may not reactivate.

yeah but the source isn't netflix or amazon prime. it's a bluray.

yeah, rip your bluray once and play on as many screens at the same time as your server can handle :awe:

I was going to get a dell DAS but then found out the fuckers wants you to buy dell drives or it won't work.

I like to get the blurays that come with UV. I usually only buy them when they're $5-10 though.

if projector, then bluray is a no brainer. if you have a projector i'm assuming you have a decent sound setup.

on my 120" screen 1080p vs. 720p is completely noticeable. 720p still looks good, but it's just not as crisp as 1080p.

then you have the sound - the sound on movies i've streamed from netflix and amazon is LOL worthy compared to blurays. i simply won't stream certain types of movies because of this.

but i did watch game of thrones on HBO go the past 2 seasons on it, and the picture looked really good.

DVD. I don't own a bluray player. The stuff I like is old for the most part, so there's little benefit to higher resolution.
How do you figure? The resolution of film is still higher than the resolution of DVD. I mean, the transfer quality will matter of course, but age of the material isn't really a factor.
