how old are you???

just wondering.

if you are going to college a coupe is going to ****** you over.

Grad school...why would it **** me over?

the amount of storage space that you have to transport objects from home to school and back.

i have a larger sedan. and i still wish i had a larger trunk.

Actually, a decent sized hatchback will fit more inside than most trunk cars. I was able to fit a fully asssembled Yamaha Razz moped inside my T/A with the seats folded down and the hatch fully shut - which I did on a few occasions. I also carried a full size dresser (~5 feet tall) in the same car, although I did have to bungee-cord the hatch down for that one.

My Mustang (trunk) car, however, couldn't haul crap.

now tell me what coupe is going to fit a decent amount.

ive dealt with the new Tiburon and the older Eclipse hatchbacks, they dont have that much space in all honesty
Small hatchbacks, like the Tiburon and Eclipse, won't hold much, true.
My Trans Am held quite a bit of stuff, if you knew how to pack it right - of course, as HBs go, that's about as big as they get.

All I'm saying, is that you don't necessarily need a large trunk to haul lots of stuff. In fact, there's absolutely no way I could have fit my moped OR that huge dresser in my dad's Crown Vic, even though that car technically has more cargo space.

hence why sporty wagons should be making a comeback now that SUV's are in the dumper.

i really wish i knew wtf was going on with my car.

There are only a few cars that are worth looking at 240sx, mustang v8, eclipse/talon awd turbo, and f-body v8. The 240sx is slow unless you swap engines or turbo the stock one. the DSMs(eclipse/talon) are fast, cheap, easy to upgrade, and not very reliable. Mustangs are fast aslong as it isn't a 96-98 GT, cheap, easy to upgrade, handle better then people think epecially compared to most of the car people in this thread are recomending, but are all over the place. The f-bodies get great gas mileage for the massive power they make ls1 + 6 speed, fairly cheap, easy to upgrade, handle well, but aren't very comfortable and can be a pain in the ass to work on.

If you are getting an impracticle coupe you might as well get one that is actually fun to drive and not a FWD economy car or an old people's car with 2 doors removed.

So as of right now, Im looking at a 2000 Celica GTS with 67k for 9000, and a 2003 Tiburon GT with 70k (all highway, obviously) for 8000.

Tiburon - Torquier, looks nicer IMHO
Celica - Faster overall, better mpg but demands premium, toyota quality

Both fully loaded. Between these two only, which would you go for, and why?

I would not buy a FWD coupe.

The Celica easily.
If I own a Celica, it would have to have a bodykit...it looks ugly without one.

I would. Something reliable but decent. Rather a v6 than a 4-cyl.

It really is between these two cars at this point. Anything else is too old, too ugly, too slow, or too expensive.

I guess the fact that the celica gt-s would smoke any of those two cars with ease means absolutely nothing?

I dont like the look of either, and while Im sure they are faster, I wouldnt trust buying a used domestic, especially a coupe.

Driving the celica was the most fun Ive had driving in a long time. The only thing I dont like is the lack of torque at low rpm and the wacky shifter, but it is just too much damn fun to drive when you push it. The vvtl-i is a good time, and it handles and brakes like nothing else. Good mileage too. :p
