2003 Ford Dark Shadow Grey (CX) and shave the body molding:

Drool.

That isn't the color, but think that a little darker. Whatever color, shave the side molding and also think about enlarging the quarter vents and doing anything else that would best be done before painting.

If you're doing a custom color, I would look at the DuPont or House of Kolor color charts.

My favorite colors for cars are dark purple or blue metallics that look black, but when you shine light on them you can BARELY see the hint of color. The reason they look so good is because you can only see the real color in the sunlight, it looks just black in most settings though.

The only thing I'm really afraid of is the novelty wearing off after a few months - do you think it'll keep its appeal? Planning on 17x9.5 rear wheels with 275 rubber, and I have a TD06 20G with Tial externally vented wastegate that's awaiting installation, if that helps at all. 😛

We are also doing the single-vent scoop mod, so my car will be just like the photoshop job except for the body kit (which is minimal anyway) and shaved seams/molding (my car's body is stock - I don't plan on installing any aftermarket body kit stuff and I will probably keep the side moldings). I will also be having my wing deleted entirely.

Obviously these will look a bit different when they're on a car than they do on the can, but he has these two (meaning if I use one of these colors, I don't have to buy paint). He said the orange will look more metallic than it does on the can and the blue will have a lot of pearl and gold flake.

IMO an orangish color will lose its appeal after a while. A dark blue or dark gray will always look good though.

So many black cars around. Black is my favorite color, but I'd go with a medium to dark blue or dark gray over black any day, depending on the car.

Unless I can find a better color in short order, Ford's Sonic Blue is what my Mustang will end up being:

Viper Blue is similar:

Ford's Dark Shadow Gray is my all time favorite "New Edge" Mustang color:

The Chevy Cobalt's Sunburst Orange Metallic is pretty nice in person:

funny you say that - my painter suggested the dodge orange..and my roommate mentioned that she had seen a beautiful orange earlier today - turns out it was the same.

It's a color that, IMO, tends to look really good in direct sunlight (or at least with some kind of good lighting) but the appeal fades on a darker day. It doesn't look bad by any means, but it really needs direct lighting to make it stand out. That's why I posted the second picture as well, which doesn't look nearly as nice.

For a weekend / performance car, I say go for it.
