I suggest to people that oppose guns should put a sign on their house or apartment that states that they live in a "Gun Free" house.
I second that suggestion.

Not really. Look at Australia. They banned guns and their violence rate went UP. If you were a criminal, who would you rather rob? An unarmed man, or a guy with a Glock .40 in his pocket? Guns are effective deterents. As for the militia statement, ever hear of the national guard?Originally posted by: dolph

full text is this:
"A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."
so if you own a gun, you're supposed to be in "a well regulated militia." or is there something there that's ambiguous?
mistert:
you might have noticed a lack of state sponsered mental facilities since reagan closed them all. so your tax dollars aren't going towards helping mentally ill people anyway. but that's not the point. guns kill easier than anything else on earth. take away guns (or at least stop selling them), and violence is bound to go down.

I am not against guns. Yet, I do know, and supported by facts, that a society without guns can have a decrease in violent crimes.

And while robberies rose 81 percent in England and Wales, they fell 28 percent in the United States. Likewise, assaults increased 53 percent in England and Wales but declined 27 percent in the United States. Burglaries doubled in England but fell by half in the United States. ..... and this is also true for Canada ? in those countries where citizens are disarmed in their own homes

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The 2nd amendment is about the States ONLY not the People.
