Hi,
I am a newbie and am installing my first PC, so I hope you will be patient with what appears to be something that should be simple to figure out!
I purchased an Antec SLK3700AMB case and an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe motherboard. The Antec manual is not clear about how to connect the rear case fan, and I would like to know how it is done.
The rear case fan has three wires coming out of it. Two of the wires (black and red) go into a 4-pin male power plug. Also, there are 4 wires going from this same plug to another 4-pin female power plug. The third wire coming out of the fan goes into a 3-pin plug by itself (should there be at least two leads? Has one broken away?)
In addition, there is a 3-pin connector from the power supply that looks similar to the 3-pin connector coming out of the fan.
I am confused as to how I am supposed to connect all these to the motherboard/power supply. The motherboard has two 3-pin connectors labeled CHA_FAN1 and PWR_FAN1 in the manual. I have connected a second fan from the front of the case to the CHA_FAN1 connector. How do I connect the first fan? The 3-pin plug has only one wire from the fan. Am I supposed to connect the 3-pin plug to the PWR_FAN1 connector and the 4-pin plug to the power supply? Or am I supposed to connect the 3-pin plug from the power supply to the PWR_FAN1 connector on the board and the 4-pin plug from the fan to a plug on the power supply? Or, is it something else?
I called Antec but got through to their voicemail. Haven't heard back yet for a while, so I hope someone here can help me straighten it out so I can proceed with the installation.
Thanks!
