We will be in 13th place before today's over !!!

and the stat's are working now !! I was afraid we would lose some but I don't think so 🙂

pc reformating and problems with drivers back up and running now😉

how can i set the priorties higher to crank out more to make up for lost time?

thanks
mike

You can raise the priority of the program as high as you like.

(using windows task manager, select the 'processes' tab, then find 'dockwin' and right click it, the drop-down menu will have 'set priority' as a choice
choose that and then set it as high as you like)

HOWEVER, IF YOU RAISE THE PRIORITY, YOUR COMPUTER WILL NOT RUN MUCH OF ANYTHING ELSE

Even with the priority set at LOW as the program defaults (to remain unobtrusive to other work you are doing) your

computer will be cranking at 98 or 99% all the time. this work is shared by any other programs that are running, with those

set to higher priorities getting resources before D2OL.

So IMO, the best way to speed your progress is don't run any unnecessary software which competes for (and wins) resources.

Since your computer will process at 100%, the only way to really speed it up would be to upgrade the computer (or OC it)

ok is it normal for the dockwin to disappear from the list after setting priority to high and if so how do i reenable the low setting in the future if dockwin is gone from the list?

thanks

ON my win 2000 machine if I set it to above normal it does maybe 3-4 more candidates a day, It's a 1 gig Athlon.

what is your production with what OS and mhz ?

1. Win ME 1550 Athlon 384 meg ram @53 cand a day

2. Win 2000 Pro 1000 Athlon 384 ram @ 30 cand @ day ( was 800 duron till 8/17/02)

3. Win ME 1300 Athlon 256 ram @ 28 cand a day, daughter's pc runs about 18 hrs a day.

my other nodes are a smaller pc's.

I would like to figure out how to optimize the app. and with what OS it likes the best.

LMK what you have and production?

Kinda start a small database 😀

Linux is the best O/S from my experimentation.

Linux -- Athlon XP 2200@1890MHz -- 512 MB PC3200 RAM: averages 120+ candidates/day

Linux -- Athlon MP 1800@1533MHz -- 512 MB ECC PC2100 RAM: averages 95 candidates/day
