I am hoping that posting this here maybe just a couple of you will help.

I think this is one of the most worthy causes I have found for DC. This also benefit's children with cancer, which is also a topic close to my heart 🙂🙂🙂🙂

I am not asking for 100 new people to sign up for Team Anandtech, I think just 2-3 people with some spare idle time on there pc's if they would like to help a good cause

TA has moved into the top 10 for the week 22nd overall. I really think we could have a top 5 team with less than 10 pc's and think of the how good you would feel everytime you looked at what you were doing

TRI is conducting screens for potential drugs that will either kill cells that are mutant for TSC (we each have two copies of each gene and we will only kill cells that have two bad copies of the TSC genes, the rest of the cells that don't cause problem with people with TSC only have one bad copy), or make these cells more like normal cells(revert the phenotype).

To join Team Anandtech you must first become a member here. Then once on your member page click the teams link at the top and find Team Anandtech. There should be a join link on the Team Anandtech page.

This is an exciting team that is really moving quickly through the rankings. I myself am not a member since I am already a member of so many other teams but they are doing a great job and the cause deserves support.
 
a few questions i need answered first please

1. can i use the computer while running this? my rig p-4 1.5 willie with 256 ram win xp pro and 7200 rpm hdd

2.joining team anandtech is that automatic after you sign up or can i be vetoed out?

3.what numbers are expected out of me and do i run this 24/7 or can i stop to do stuff that won't work while running this(disreguard if this is answered up in question 1)?

1. Yes, you can do anything you normally use your computer for while running this program. It will freely give up resorces if another program needs them. I have run programs similar to this while burning cd's and playing games without noticing any different in performance.

2. No one will ever prevent anyone from joining Team Anandtech, force them to stay, or force them to leave. You are free to be a member of our team as long as you like and we would be happy to have you.

3. I don't know what sort of numbers you would get from that machine but looking at the specs they wouldn't be all that bad. Like I said for question 1 I run DC programs 24/7 without a penalty to my systems performance.

I run it 24/7 even when I play CS !! or UT Tac-op's!! 😀 I never even notice it on my Athlon @ 1533

I don't mean to threadcrap but but the Doctor behind TSC has been on at least one other forum in the past trying to get people to leave their projects so he can have 10,000 people for his project.

I didn't find it very kewl what he was trying to do.

Also he crapped on folding.

WOW - that kind of sucks🙁 But the project is still a good one😉 Is this still going on Muttley? I'll poke around and see but hopefully someone pointed out the fact to hime that recruiting from other projects isn't looked upon kindly😉 If not I'm sure he'll find out soon😉

MY PERSONAL OPINION

First: (Sharpstick I did not mean you wanted 10,000 but in another Teams forum on another web site the Doctor was forging forth with his cause and as you can see it made its news into this forum the other day as I recall and the Doctor played the virtues of some DC projects most all good praising the SETI and wooing that community and the math community virtues. But when it came to life sciences he put them down in a varying of articulate words from the medicine companies have already done that to flat out saying that folding had no merrets.)

He is on at least 2 boards of large companies.
Has lots of money as I think he boasted.
Has a PHD and his wife is someone as well. (as I recall)

Conclusion, he isn't ignorant but he is capable of being a spin doctor in his own right. I imagine that he has lectured and had to convince/debate for his causes.


Of Brian the Fist in distributedfolding.org he has put up a number of his own computers and their own following. However I think that anything with Cancer attached is going to pull people like the UD program on Lukemia which as I recall had a million plus signed up.
I hope that Rotherburg (is that his name) is putting in his own funds or something and not just backing it with grants and his name.

As you might sense I really don't like the "establishment " (term coined in the 60's-70's ) much like my letter on the Home Depo incident and not shopping there any more.

My appologies in this forum if I evaluated the Doctor wrong.
CADkindaGUY said he was going to cross reference in other forums beside the one I read and see if this was going on more from the Doctor.

I guess you can't blame the guy for wanting his project to be a success. Putting down other projects to do it isn't cool though. However, it still doesn't overshadow the fact that this project is for a good cause. Community TSC and D2OL are run by the same people right?

I am sorry if this thread has offended you, that wasn't my intention, in my PERSONAL OPINION I think it is almost flagrant that other's running different DC software go into people's thread's and talk derogatory about it. What is the motive ???

I just signed up on their forums, and I'm downloading the client now. 🙂

Now, I just gotta figure out which machine(s) to install it on. 😉
 
I put this on one of my machines this morning and so far it and seti seem to play together alright.
Can I use the same setup file for more then one machine or do I need to download a new node each time?

I save the setup program to one machine and just install from that same setup everytime, each machine will DL it's own node 🙂 hope I helped ya 🙂

We should see a big jump soon when I get my next two machines up and running. A dual Athlon XP 1800+ system and a Athlon 1600+. Basically two of the systems I have running ATM will be replaced since they are computers about to be sent out to my aunt's har salon business. They will be replaced with much more powerful systems though (currently these two are a Duron 700 and a Duron 1000).

I'm gonna beat you to the top ten Sharpstick (haha, yeah right!)

I have it on a 1800 a 1700 and a 1 gig thunderbird so far. still have a few more to go.

What are you all doing to make it play nice with SETI? When I had them both running, SETI took all of the CPU. So I've had to run one or the other. 🙁
