HELP! Error message in 98...

I'm working at a lab right now, and we're getting a very odd error message on one of the 98 boxes:

Windows cannot find winsvrc.exe.

This program is needed for opening files of type 'Application'

I've never come across this before, and have never even seen the file winsvrc.exe; I did a search for the file on the drives of other 98 boxes, and had no luck finding it. I even did a dir /s /a:h to search for hidden files manually, and couldn't find it.

Has anyone come across this before?

We (unfortunately) don't know if any apps, etc., have been installed on this machine recently that might be causing it.

I reimaged the machine, and now it works fine. Pfft.

Rob,

You might want to run a complete virus scan. The only reference I got to that file was connected to the Navidad virus. Microsoft had nothing on it.

I had one like that not the same everytime I booted my PC up,anyway I went into WIN.INI via sysedit &amp; deleted the file line it was referring to since it was not a Windows file or program.
