Been doing this for 1 year 2 months now.... damn this is getting boring
Anyone else here worked on a help desk for an extended period of time? Im a have a degree in CSCI, and A+ cert (oh yay, woopity doo). I was bumped up to a level 2 position after 5 months or so, and given a salary increase (because I had put in my 2 weeks that I was going elsewhere).
Anyway, now Im a Sr. Support Specialist but Im doing the same thing basically.... I also moved 85 miles away recently for my wife to go to Graduate school, so now its 170 miles drive each day. They recently allowed me to start working from home on fridays, I worked last friday and it went off without a hitch.
So now Im tempted to press for more time from home, as everyday I work from home will save me 3-4hrs in commuting and $20-30 in commuting costs. More as gas prices go up.
Has anyone else worked a helpdesk that agents were allowed working from home primarily?
Just waiting for the boss to come back in today and going to ask him.... they said in the past they will work with me because they want to keep me here (I take more calls, higher first call resolution, etc, etc. )
There is also something in the works to possibly move me to the night shift where I only work 3 days one week 4 days the next, and it is a lot lower call volume/work which would give me time for coding with a co-worker to get some projects worked on.
Anyway rambling post... Im bored, only 25 interactions so far today (3.5hours)
Cliffs: Dont read it, would be a waste of time.
