Hi all,

I was in the process of building my own PC. Hope you could spend sometime and help this noob out  I am not going to OC..but rather aim for a stable computer that could play game. After a while searching...I got some question..worrying about that could my the items that I have selected will match with each other..or will the conflict ?(compatibilty)
*Sorry if I ask too much :( ..I tried to search around but the answer varies so I taught your oppinion worth more !

This is what I have in mind. If there is any better deals or compatibility issue please voice them out :)
*I plan to use this computer for multitasking stuff such as ide encoding and editing. Will be doing some MAYA and 3Dmax too but Quadro is expansive X|

Motherboard not sure (Fatal1ty AN8 SLi)
* I heard that with Fatal1ty AN8 SLi you have less option RAM(expansive) to choose with. If using DFI lanparty, you could get more option RAM to go with and further its cheaper. Is this tru, could someone explain ? I saw Abit AN8 32X, which has Silent OTES(heatsink) compared to OTES(loud ?), is it worth to spend more ?

Opteron 170
After long browsing, all manufacturers just state the mobo support socket 939/athlon 64. Does it Athlon 64 or socket 939 means it will support Opteron Processors ?
Is it worth it to get Opteron 165 and overclock it ?

XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB DDR3 Extremex2(wanted to SLI)
There are 3 version Extreme XXX, Extreme and the normal edition. Which is more best performance/value ?

OCZ OCZP4002GK 2GB Kit DDR400 PC3200 Platinum XTC Edition
Is there any better options ? like better performance/value ?

Fortron 600watt
I could get it for $105. Any better options ?

Hdd 4 piece (plain to RAID)
SAMSUNG SpinPoint P Series 160GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s
Model #: HD160JJ

Summary
Fortron 600watt
Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLi (any other suggestion?)
Opteron 170
OCZ OCZP4002GK 2GB Kit DDR400 PC3200 Platinum XTC Edition (any other suggestion?)
SAMSUNG SpinPoint P Series 160GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s X4 (RAID)

Thanks in advance. hope I dont miss out anything :p

PSU, RAM, Samsung excellent choices.
I like ASUS, but have used ABit before, AOK.
Other choices, good

I think it would be better to get one superfast video card rather than two slower ones, you will get better performance.

Such as:
X1900XT
7900GT
X1800GTO
among others

Any brand recomandations for X1900XT ? I heard that for 7900GT, there is problem which causes the card to freeze.

*thanks for all the reply :)

I dont know of any problems with the 7900gt that cause them to freeze. As for the rest of the system, there really isnt any need for an opteron if you dont plan to overclock

I am using it for video encoding purposes and heavy graphic editing, so I taught dual core help to improve the performance

That's true. AMD also has the cheaper X2 line of dual-core processors. I would recommend going with an X2 3800+ and a faster single video card.

You shouldn't have to wait much longer for AM2. Thats my recommendation, give it a month and then build

Thanks for all your valueble opinions, really help me to realize why I should go for x1800xt instead of nvidia's 7600. After all thinking I have made up my mind to OC since you all(experts) could I think help me :p and its more value for money :)

Summary of new stuffs, if there is any better suggestion please comment.

Fortron 600watt
ASUS A8R-MVP Socket 939
Opteron 165
OCZ OCZP4002GK 2GB Kit DDR400 PC3200 Platinum XTC Edition Dual Channel Memory
SAPPHIRE 100134SR Radeon X1800XT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16

I am not quite sure whether the PSU could support the Asus board, I am not planing to cross fire. Would it be overkill ? Will the stock HSF sufficient ? Or should I go with Thermaltake Big Typhoon ?

what u have in the post above mine is an excellent build. that psu and the motherboard will work. does the a8r32-mvp deluxe not fit in your budget? try the stock heatsink out for a little while, if you're not happy with the temps then get a scythe ninj for the best air cooling on the market.
