Yeah.. that was what I was driving at, only I don't find it funny.

You know what I mean. Read the rest of my replies to get a clearer image of what I'm driving at here. What is the point of "progress" ???? Faster computers? Or a better and more refined species? Don't get me wrong, fast computers are great too.

Most likely the majority of people here are desperate geeks who cannot get an ounce of pussy, hence the rapid response.

The point of progress is that given enough progress, we'll be able to venture into space, thus conquering and enslaving other alien races.

What's even less funny is that I'm serious.

Hey geekgirl, you should inform us as to which software you will be using primarily. This will greatly affect the proper hardware to be selected.

She already did--Maya. She should probably save up more money so that she can include an ATi Fire GL4 in that package.

here is what i ended up with. please let m eknow if you see any obvious hardware conflicts, or general shortcomings,
I plan on getting a better opengl graphics card a little bit farther down the road.

and, i know the prices aren't the *best* but i am getting everything at once from monarch computers in the ATL (i think they built the ultimate workstation machine for linux journal) because I can't wait for the parts to get mailed piece by piece, and wouldn't mind the three year warranty thing....

(the xxx being for hugs, but now, i realize the obvious connotations...)
