My initial reaction upon reading this thread was also "What makes him so different from I, and others, who have little ones with financial difficulty?!?!".
Hell, I grew up seeing more days than I care to see where times really sucked. But my parents didn't have the internet forums to reach people who do care. And if they did, would they have "shared" their story to garner the compassion of others? To feed me and my brother if we had nothing.....maybe. But again, they had no such forum, so hurt, depressed, etc. or not, they found a way.....this just seems like one more way (the net) appropriate for the times. I'm not saying I endorse this type of thing (the girl who begged to have her CC's paid off should rot in hell) but this is different than that.
Why?
The point is, if it were just this guy and his wife I'd most likely say suck it up and get things moving for you again, but there are children involved. Those of you here without children may not understand how painful the fear of your child suffering is/would be.
One thing I am concerned about is this guys condition, will it improve, or will he see this as a reliable form of some income? I read briefly that he is having trouble getting off of Paxil. If he's depressed to the point he can't work, and if his back is truly that bad, can he not recieve some disability help? Hell, I have a small tear in my spinal cord from an auto accident. For a long time I felt sorry for myself and thought someone owed me. Then reality set in and I discovered noone will take care of me, but me. And I took care of business.
As for this guys medication, I assume since he's out of work that he has no Rx benefits, right? If he's paying out of pocket for Paxil that's AT LEAST $100 per month! If that's the case, then get off the medication, or find much cheaper alternatives. Yeah depression sucks, but is exspensive medicine a priority over food and shelter????
Well, this is all my opinion, and you know how that goes..........so if you don't like it, flame on, see how much I care.
That being said, lets help these kids, they're the important ones here, noone else.
