The owner of the business where I work just died a few weeks back, and he had this old rig sitting up on his property that I was eyeing for quite awhile. It used to belong to a native American that was I guess kind of a old hippy type, and a fiddler. As I understand he drove this thing all over tho country, took it to some big gathering at "Wounded Knee" and I guess he was a running buddy with Ken Kessey (SP) who also lived here in Eugene Or. At any rate I guess it has quite a bit of history attached to it.

So anyway his kid's have sold his property and want all these old rigs he was holding onto hauled off, and they said if I wanted it I could have it!!

This is what it looks like. Though it really looks better than the "broken down" one shown.

It's got a V-6 auto. NO dents OR rusted out spots! I can STAND UP in it, which is REAL cool. The only real down side is it's right hand drive.

It's got a platform like thingy built off the back that sticks out maybe 3 feet. and is as wide as the rig.

I was thinking about doing a "Jack Of All Trade's" kinda business when the shop closed down, which may be fairly soon. Computer repair maybe. But this would be GREAT for maybe a Mobile Bike repair business (The Bike Business is what I do now).. or hell the possibilities are WIDE open. And with a rig like this, you couldn't NOT BE SEEN in it. So GREAT advertisement for any kind of work!!!

What do you think?? ;)

Here are some Pic's I took today (Sat. 16th) while getting ready to haul it out of the woods.

Thanks Crab453 for hosting them!

Nope doesn't run yet. I just went up to look at it tonight after work, and tryed to take some shots. But it was too dark.
But tomarrow I'm going up there and see if I can drag it out of the woods. I'll get some pic's then.

From looking over what info I can find. It looks like it came with a 4 banger when it was new. So some one has dropped in the V-6 in it now. But it looks like I could drop a V-8 in it with out much trouble. I'll see if I can get the 6 going first though.

The engine's been swapped out. The 4 banger is gone. :(

But I'm sure finding parts for the 6 that's in there will be easyer that trying to find parts for the Hurricane engine it came with.

This thing is cool and has great potential. You're crazy if you get rid of it. Probably fast enough w/ 6 cyl.

When that thing is done you will be the toughest ice cream man in the neighborhood. That could easily handle 10-15 bells and whistles. The kids are going to envy you. ;)

Just kidding, i've recently restored a Mustang and i know how much fun projects can be. Good luck

BTW: Mines the FJ-3 (the shortie) just like the yellow "Bail Bonds" van pictured.

I'm headed up there in a bit, and will come back with PIC'S!!

I found a bit more info.
They only built these from 1961-1965 and it looks like the engine in a Buick V-6 "Dauntless" and it's NOT a Auto, but a 4 speed (maybe a 3 speed, I can't find reverse if it IS a 4 speed)

The front tire's took air, so hopefully so will the rear's. Tomarrow it MOVE'S for the first time in 20 or so years. (Plates are from 80)
I took some pic's today, but only a few turned out.

If some one wants to host them for me, I'll put 1 or 2 up!

That is reallyy cool. I'd prolly try to turn it into a daily driver just to be original. As an added bonus, you'll never have a problem telling it from all the other cars in a parking lot.

That would be a cool party wagon, chop the top back half off, put some dubs on it. ;)
That is an interesting looking jeep.

Brutuskend, did you know that that Buick V-6 is the same basic block that powers most GM cars to this day?

Kaiser actually bought the tooling in the mid sixties from Buick and put them factory fresh in their Jeeps, but folks had been doing their own conversions (using the 225 cu inch Buick V-6) for some years before that. The tooling got sold back to GM in the mid '70's, and evolved into the 3800 corporate V-6.

Your basic boy racer, over cladded, ass ugly, still goes like stink supercharged Pontiac GTP? Powered by Buick!

Anyway, man, treasure that Cab over, it's a definite keeper!!

Brutuskend, since it didn't cost you anything, I say keep it, could be a fun restore job and if you never get around to it, heck it was free :)
