Anything for whites to insult blacks. But Bill Cosby agrees with them so they're not racist!!!

Anyone that criticizes blacks are obviously racist. Even if it has nothing to do with race, because its whites criticizing blacks then of course they are racist.

Hatred of people of different race because of racial difference is obviously racism. I am telling you that the unobvous cause of racism, unobvious, of course to you, is that racism is a subset of self hate. I am saying that the source of all hate is hate for the self. Because we can't allow our selves to know or feel how much we hate ourselves, we can't see what racism really is, the seeing in others everything we were made to think is true of us. We can't address racism or hatred generally because we can't stand to know our own pain.

What would you do if you were poor?
Jesse Lee Peterson is a idiot and a bigot.
He is black BTW.
And many of those rapes and murders that happened in the Superdome never actually happened. But surely it makes you feel less sorry for the people stuck there if you hear they did.

N.O. was a poor city. Poor people live check to check and many simply didnt have the money to get up and leave with their families to get out of town. How many people do you know right NOW that would have to WALK to evacuate their city because they do not have the means, cash nor credit to get out in a faster way? And people cannot live off welfare. I could have sworn that you can only be on welfare for a total of 60 months IN A LIFETIME. Why does the myth of welfare life continue to be brought up? ANd why are people blamed because of the shortcomings of local and federal govt?

If you were "Trapped" in a burning building would you expect a fire truck to showup?
What is the job of FEMA?

Well, if all the experts where saying that a big ass Cat 5 hurricane was about to kill my family I would probably start pooling resources with neighbors to get out of town.

Your right. The Superdoom was fairly controlled. However, there where a whole lot of rapes and murders in the Convention Center and in the city itself. The media may not like to talk about it anymore but I can assure you that a lot more happened then you want to believe.

If their families where faced with almost certain death, just about everyone I know.

There are many forms of welfare besides an actual welfare check. Lets take public housing for instance. A large portion of the people that where living in public housing Pre-K had been living there for well over a decade. I can find you plenty of news reports of people protesting to get the projects reopened saying "It is THEIR property because they have been living their for 30 years". Whats worse is that gets passed to the next generation. Many mothers and daughters had their own unit in the same housing complex.

Yes I would expect a local fire truck to show up. I would not expect a federal agency to be there to save my behind before the building burned down though. FEMA comes in after the disaster has come and gone. It is up to the local authorities to prepare and evacuate people BEFORE a disaster. Both screwed the pooch bigtime but in my opinion the latter caused more loss of life than the former.

The local government waited to long to issue a mandatory evacuation.
The local government failed to provide poor people with transportation out of town. This isn't a new issue that just popped up during Katrina. We always new that a large number of people did not have the means or would not use what means they had to evacuate on their own.
Knowing the above, the local government failed to stockpile enough food, water and medicine to provide for the people they where not going to assist in evacuating.

Good comments. I was not there so i cannot comment on the people of N.O. too much. I can talk about how poor people think though. I doubt it would cross their minds to 'pool resources' with their neighbors. I would think poor people that live so close to being broke are probably not thinking of "sharing" any resources (money) with other people. I cant say this for sure but those people will the least knowledge thought it just wouldn't be that bad. And when it was it was too late.

The demonization of black people is getting pretty old in the US. *

It just aggravates me that, by and large, our local leaders got let off the hook for their huge and deadly mistakes and people focus on blaming FEMA. I do find it rather amusing when the people you speak of try to "demonize" Nagin as the "black" leader of New Orleans. Fact is, it was the white folk who put him in office because he was a hellofa businessman.

Don't get me wrong, the Feds have their share of the blame. Starting with the most forgotten (at least nationally) Federal organization, the Core of Engineers who designed and built faulty levees that failed and caused the entire mess to begin with.

BTW, if you think that race relations are bad nationally you should really take a trip down here. Its way passed the level of absurdity from both sides. The truly disheartening fact of the matter is that it will not get any better until the current generation dies off and the new generation steps in. Perhaps the influx of new young people can help but as of now I don't see an end in sight.

The Core of Engineers can not be blamed for everything. The people in New Orleans knew they were living below sea level. It was no secret. Theyt decided to take the risk and have to have some of the blame. The local government could have located emergency services on higher ground and just chose not to. They let their own national guard armery go under water and did not even move their own equipment. Basically the state and the city were negligent. I think if I lived below sea level it would be a good idea to have a rubber raft or a canoe or something like that. As far as the Core of Engineers, they would probably tell you you are better off filling in most of the low lying areas with a giant landfill.

I will not get into this black and white race bating contest. There were plenty of white idiots that did not evacuate as well.

No such thing as a racism really. Racism is just self hate. Every racist was made to feel about himself all the hate he tries to pack into words like great person. He seeks to make the other, any kind of other, feel as bad as he.
I have unlocked the key to your philosophy on humanity. Everything, all conditions and expressions are motivated by self-hatred. Any time somebody does something bad, does something good, says something, looks at something, feels something, it's all because they hate themselves!

I can only surmise that you reach this ridiculous conclusion because you hate yourself.
In this case, I'll admit, you're right.

I don't hate myself, yet I am no different from other humans.

Yes you do. You just do not know how you feel. The feeling are deeply buried but they are there and for most people tremendously difficult to get to. It's surely why Jesus worked with losers, they have so fewer walls to break through and are so much closer to their pain.

You hate yourself, but there is no reason to. We were all made to believe in lies.

So you are saying that that one who has no self-hatred cannot feel hatred for another, regardless of what the other has done?

I know that this philosophy makes sense of the universe for you and gives you comfort, but it is overly simplistic and makes "wrong" anyone who experiences negative feelings in response to being treated badly.

Bad things happen to good people, and no one - not even the enlightened souls you imagine exist - floats above the carnage and feels only bliss.

You apparently believe that Jesus lacked self-hatred. Where is your evidence of that, apart from pure faith?

Mother Teresa worked with "losers," too. That is not ipso facto evidence that she was enlightened in any way or that she didn't frequently feel hatred.

You're inferring an inner state from observations of external actions.

I do not hate myself. I feel alive. The only thing I have buried is regret. The regret is not hard to find. I never met Jesus.

I find your theory that you know more about us than we do ourselves to be absurd. I like you moonbeam but you cant paint us all with the same brush. Not every advanced ape is as sad as you are.

You are right. However, they can be blamed for blatantly using substandard materials and building practices when they built the levees causing them to fail when stressed to a point that they where designed to handle.

Absolutely. The risk was deemed acceptable because the chances of a storm coming along that would stress the levees beyond what they where designed for was ridiculously small. Its no different than the risk the vast majority of the people in this country take living where they do. Over half of the country lives withing 50 miles of the coast. Huge cities are built on active fault lines or close to active volcanoes or in Tornado Alley etc...

I have argued exactly that in this very thread. Go back and read my previous posts. I put more blame on Nagin and Blanco than I do on FEMA.

Lol. Sure thing bud. Along with 1/3rd of the countries oil and natural gas infrastructure and the nations (and one of the worlds) biggest ports. Sounds like a real swell idea. Think your paying a lot at the pump now?

Yup. Especially in the utterly destroyed St. Bernard Parish that has gotten virtually no press.
