Its strange how much stock people put into reviews. I have both games and they are not bad games by themselves. The penny arcade guys hit it on the nail when they said that perhaps people see these games moreso as a failure because theres been great expectations placed on them for some reason, perhaps unfairly. Having played these games myself and reading what others who only have read reviews have to say I can tell you that they are right.
so true.
I don't really hate either of the 6 games I currently own for the PS3, one of those I own is even Genji and I still find it playable. However, not a great game. Now, be that.. Full Auto 2 I have grown to hate for it's insane difficulty.
However, Lair and Heavenly Sword are both games I am glad I decided to buy. They are real enjoyable, both with great presentation which is something I admire in a game. Good presentation draws me in closer to the story, and speaking of story, the mix of emotions in HS is actually really great to me. I enjoy smirking or even laughing with Bohan talks, but that doesn't detract from the rest of the story, which I do truly believe is somewhat epic in scale. In my eyes, it's more epic than that of Halo, which everyone busts a nut over these days, at least it seems. That's another tried and true concept and that came together with pretty good production values. But that's another day, another time. HS, on the other hand, seems to know it's kind of a throwback to the old-school action romp, but it does so with such flair and perfection in its delivery, it's just short. However, it's definitely proving not to be some 6 hour game for me, but that's because I HATE flying through games to see how fast I can beat it. Why ruin good fun by being so haste, when you can truly enjoy it.
