I can't believe that I never saw a single one of the movies he was in. Still a shame to lose someone so young and with so much ahead of them.

and they keep saying he was found naked. that's just cruel for them to mention. i wouldn't mind imagining him naked at all, but dead and naked, that's :(

He's the new Marylin Monroe.

His death is not on the same level as Monroe, Dean, or Cobain. I suspect this will be more on the level of River Phoenix's death.

Heath played a character in the excellent 'Monster's Ball', that committed suicide in front of his Father and Grandfather. A really dark role. If he was as 'method' as some are saying, these kinds of things might have accelerated certain elements of his depression/alienation/withdrawal.

Why is it cruel if it's the truth? Reports I heard said Elvis died on the toilet. What's worse?

Because they have absolutely NOTHING to do in between movie roles. When River Phoenix died, there was a great story somewhere about his and other actors/actresses lives in between movie roles. There are no real challenges in life anymore - he could walk into any bar and women would throw themselves at him. He could buy anything he wanted.

Worse, unless you're a superstar, you never know when your next role is coming. You're essentially always looking for work, so its hard to plan anything or get involved in anything that you'd have to drop suddenly to go shoot on location across the globe. Then, even if you are in demand, you just bouncing from film to film, with too brief fits of nothing in between. Not even enough time to start a relationship, even if its a casual one.

Instead of finding a constructive hobby (say a charity to support/do PR for), most stars just sit around smoking, drinking, and binging on the drug du jour to fill in the time. Path of least resistance.

You could always go God Squad or Scientology, I guess.

well he did admit that portraying a "murderous madman" (Joker) wasn't exactly what the Dr. ordered.

sounds like a bad combination of heart breaking from his breakup and not being able to see his daughter, and drugs...

depression and substance abuse... not a good mix there

Sources: Drug Packets Found In Ledger's Apartment
$20 Bill With Possible Narcotic Residue On It Also Pulled From Scene

NEW YORK (CBS) ? New evidence has surfaced in the investigation into the sudden and shocking death of Oscar-nominated actor Heath Ledger, who was found dead inside his SoHo apartment on Tuesday afternoon.

Sources close to the investigation tell CBS 2's Investigative Reporter Scott Weinberger that along with the prescription drugs that were found in the apartment, police also recovered a rolled up $20 bill with possible narcotic residue on it.

Sources add they also found several drug packets containing an unknown substance. CBS 2 has learned these items were all listed on the official police report from the scene.

Those substances were officially vouchered, meaning they have been taken by police, listed in their initial reports, and sent to a lab for testing.

Commissioner Ray Kelly confirmed during a news conference Wednesday that the bill was found on the floor near Ledger's bed and being taken for testing. But he added there was no visible residue on the bill.

"The nature of the way the bill was folded might indicate it was possibly used for drugs," Kelly said.

To be clear, it's still unknown whether these items belonged to Ledger, whether he even actually ingested them, or whether the substances are illegal.

It was more than just the natural bowel-relaxing event. Wikipedia it if you want, I think the story is in there in pretty gruesome detail.

Did anyone see this? Absolutely pathetic :|

http://perezhilton.com/2008-01...h-is-a-laughing-matter

"Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, 'I wish I knew how to quit you' from Ledger?s gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, [Fox News Talk Network host John Gibson] disdainfully quipped, 'Well, he found out how to quit you.' Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, 'We?re dead,' followed by his own, mocking 'We?re dead' before playing the clip again."

Gibson called Ledger a "weirdo" with a "serious drug problem" and suggested that Ledger killed himself because he had "a serious position in the (stock) market" or perhaps "watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night. I think he was an Edwards guy, cause he saw his Edwards guy was just completely irrelevant."

There were NO illegal drugs found in his apartment. Only prescription pills. He was battling the flu/pneumonia while we was filming in Europe and was actually given antibiotics.

There could have been a bad drug interaction and he could have died because of that. I don't know what to think about the "substance abuse" problem he had previously, although his friends say that he was clean for a year.

I feel really horrible about all this, because he definitely didn't deserve to go :(
