Headphones

I cant hear any differnence honestly. I got a SB Audigy and didnt notice ANYTHING diff between it and my mobo onboard sound.... freaks

Wow! That's insane!

I bought a pair of Sony MDR-V700 DJ headphones...best things since sliced bread. I thought they were expensive at $100, but $500...ouch.

The V700's are simply amazing...but they aren't buds. 🙂

That's because the Audigy is one of the worse cards you can get. Your onboard audio might even be better.

That's like saying "I swear, I drove a Civic and a Corolla and can't tell the difference ... freaks!"

If you spend that much cash on the ear buds, how much will you spend on the audio equipment to produce high quality sound that will differentiate those from a $10 (or even $50) pair?

Just about anything would show the difference between nice phones and a 10-50 dollar pair and a nicer set.

500$ isnt even that much, the Grado RS-1s cost like 700, there are some senns that cost over 600$ and ive seen some that are overr 1000$, headphone amps run from like 300-2000$

for absolute sound quality highend headphones and a highend amp is unbeatable

 Very nice!

I have heard some really nice headphones in my time. But to me, earbuds are earbuds. I have a $15 set of Sony earbuds that I use w/my MP3 player at the gym; they sound better than my friend's $100 set of headphones.

$500 for earbuds is insane...for that price....well, AK said it. 😀

I bought Sennheiser 497's and there awesome for gaming. Paid $50, Also got in on the $50 Telex deal and those speakers rock!!!

I like the way you think.

Although I still love the electrostat sound....so buttery smooth.

Dunno about the Audigy, but the Audigy 2 ZS upgrade was night & day vs. my onboard sound. If you can't tell the difference the problem may be a low quality source, speakers, headphones or ears 😛 While it's true that the Audigys shine for gaming and are beaten by other cards for music, they're no musical slouches, certainly not down at the bottom with onboard crap.

I don't think I have low quality anything in my flow. It also depends what onboard audio you are talking about. Soundstorm? Or other.

they arn't just headphones, their shure headphones, probally also to be used as in ear monitors. If you REALLY want to see overboard...

not even the most expensive headphones in the world i think. The people who buy these things arn't your dumbass college students with ipods, their the rock stars with sexy hot supermodel girlfriends who make enough money to buy these use them once and throw them away. 🙁

That's nuts, I spent enough time just debating whether or not to spend $60 on a pair of Grado SR-60's. I'm not audiophile and I probably couldn't tell the difference between $500 and $2000 headphones, but I can tell that most of the <$30 ones are pretty crappy once you've heard nicer ones.
