Lots of good advice in this thread.

The only thing I have to add is that you may want to check the Austin Chronicle (awesome free weekly newspaper) to see what events are going on while you're here.

I don't think I have seen them mentioned but Thundercloud Subs, Freebirds World Burrito (think Chipotle but 1,000x better) and Texadelphia (cheese-steaks) are great if you need a quick bite to eat.

Everything else mentioned is awesome.

Update: I cruised around Congress, 6th street, etc. Saw the infamous UT tower. I have to say it's prettier and taller than what I had in mind. Really nice looking campus. Probably the best collage campus I have been to as far as looks go. Really nice ladies around. Nothing fancy, just down to earth pretty girls with nice big smiles.
Saw the SRV statue at night, really nice pano view of the downtown area. I was warned about that place at night, but honestly it was pretty relaxed and peaceful.
After that I went back to the hotel room and I get a call from my parents. It turns out that I have a cousin in town. He took me out to a place called Twin Peaks. Holy crap...lol. It makes Hooters look like a Sunday church event. Chicks with with flannel shirts, tied up just under their boobs, short denim shorts...really short, and those snow bunny boots. My first sight was the hostess bending over to reach a dropped pen. Waitress was hot. I flirted with her, but I am sure she gets that all the time. Just tried my best not to be a dick.
Nothing special, just had fun.

Homeslice >>>>> everything else in Austin as far as pizza is concerned.

Yes and yet it's still miles below anything in Boston, NY, or Chicago. If OP really wants pizza he should check it out but it's better to spend two weeks eating the best texmex and bbq in the world.

Nice, I've never been to twin peaks because I'm not a look but not touch kind of guy but it sounds like you had a good start to the tour.

He'll be there for a few weeks, so I don't think he'll want to eat tex mex the entire time haha.

Report back once you start eating at some of the places that have been mentioned so I can live vicariously through you. Wish I were in Austin. :(
