I know this poll has been done before, but this is the most important issue of our times!

THEY ALL ARE DWARFED BY THE BATTLE BETWEEN HD-DVD and Blu-RAY!

WHO WILL WIN!
 
I vote HD-DVD because they aren't backed by Sony first off. The first round of reviews to come out on both discs has HD-DVD coming out on top as well. Sony has just left a bad taste in my mouth over all the ridiculous things they try to push onto consumers, so I will support HD-DVD until it hopefully wins, or Blu-Ray comes out on top.
 
Please add an option for neither.

I'd lean toward HD-DVD, but I think there's a good possibility both will fail before I ever get around to buying one.
 
HD-DVD just because it's half the price of bluray for a player, and has the exact same specs.. HD and other content wise.

I've been pro HD-DVD since the beginning. Thanks to recent developments, maybe I should start betting on it.

Well, and the ability to put out movies that have HD and standard editions so you can buy it now and play it on your current gen player and flip it over when you finally get the HD player.
 
Well, I'm going to vote along with your subtitle. We all know there can be only one. Only one until the sequel comes out.

Thus I vote for whichever technology comes after HD-DVD & Blu-Ray.

should know that its simply toshiba taking a major loss.. player costs about $800, selling for $500 means a loss.

i would much rather toshiba not win with HD-DVD simply because they'll once again control the market.
blu-ray is a consortium of companies just like HD-DVD though, so its not like Sony would be controlling the market. the group thats involved with blu-ray will.

i vote blu-ray because of increased storage capabilities and because image quality can likely increase because the compression codec is not forced through hardware, so that can change.

studio support is how VHS as a format succeeded. the studio's control the media adoption rate by forcing which titles are available on which format. betamax was a higher quality format but due to sony's licensing requirements it went nowhere. sony and the group behind blu-ray must not be as bad this time around as they have the majority of studio support.

BluRay isn't scratch proof. It is more prone to scratches than HDDVD.
 
the reviews of discs favor hddvd, many bluray releases are awful
and sony can just suckit.

i'd prefer toshiba considering sonys history with drm and other shenanigans. plus, sony is the riaa+mpaa all rolled up into one neat package. *barf*
 
HDDVD is just better!
it is WAY cheaper to make thus making the cost only slightly higher than a current DVD (before early adopters premium)
HDDVD players will be FAR cheaper AND can play standard DVD's unlike BR which needs a 2nd red laser driving up the cost of the player and more things can go wrong/break
Blank HDDVD media should be cheaper then BR media
the only advantage BR has it capacity which is only what like 10gb? 16gb? more than HDDVD? no movie or videogame will take up that much room and by the time it does both formats will be dead and gone anyway...... SO the only advantage the BR has is in capacity and they should only matter for PC's and even then most likely only when backing up data or storing large large large files

OH and i am NOT a sony basher, i LOVE song (not in ever segment of the market but as a whole) though i do not agree with everythign they have done recently, however their history of having successful media types is not good! ex. memory stick, mini-disk, UMD!!! etc

HDDVD FOR THE WIN!
 
Yes, Blu-Ray has the clear content advantage with such upcoming Fox releases as:

Behind Enemy Lines
Fantastic Four
Kingdom of Heaven (Directors Cut)
Kiss of the Dragon
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
The Omen (666)
Speed
The Transporter

Seriously, the Blu-Ray release have been pretty sucky recently. I know these studios have better movies than this.
