Basing on what you have found, if one was to run 2 HD4870X2s in CF configuration, with an e8400, a 700WATT could run them?

If you're asking if a 700W power supply will run a pair of 4870's in Crossfire, I don't know about that since the lowest wattage power supply certified by ATi/AMD for just that scenario is 850W, at least so far.

The HD4870 in xfire requires at least 600W (official requirement) so I don't think the X2 will require any more than that. It would more likely be less power-hungry than an xfire between two HD4870s.
