I was kind of hoping that they would maintain the two separate products -- whatever the hell Richard is going to do, and the video chat platform. It would have been a nice change in pace from the typical framework the show has.

I don't think that would work. If their original terms weren't stating an age restriction and essentially permitted kids younger than 13 to sign up, then adding a new ToS doesn't retroactively apply to the existing user's past activities. In other words, all past activity would be subject to potential fines regardless of what the current ToS says. Now, any new activity would be covered under the ToS once the user agrees to it. That doesn't mean the kids would go away, but it means that Piper Chat would have no longer been held liable if the user broke the ToS.

Also, they were put in a quandary about updating the ToS. If they updated it, someone would probably notice, and they'd also check to see what's new. (A brash new start-up would likely be under the eyes of competitors, like Hooli.) In other words, by updating the ToS, they may end up inadvertedly alerting the authorities... 😳.

Essentially, they were screwed no matter what they did... until they no longer had the company.

Of course, they needed quick way to bring the plot line back to "Pied Piper struggling to survive". Nothing that these guys do is allowed to stay successful for more than just a few episodes.

Knowing her character, it'll either be some husband that we never hear about and probably never will, or it was in vitro fertilization. Based on her character type, I wouldn't be surprised about the latter.
 
Just caught up this weekend and tonight. I'm not really liking the direction the show is going in general. I binge watched the first 3 episodes last night and then caught up tonight on the new one. I still like it but I just don't like how the story is going right now really.

Best part this season so far was Erlich speaking Mandarin.

I've been watching this show since the beginning. It seems like they keep repeating the same thing over and over again. They start with nothing, then get money and it looks hopeful and then everything falls apart. Someone leaves. Then everyone finds their way back to the same product development and then the whole cycle starts over again and repeats itself over and over again.

In my opinion, he added to the whole dynamic of the show. I think it's going to be very difficult to fill his void.

His interactions with Jin Yang are going to be missed 🙁

Dunno why. Jared owns a condo with a squatter that he can't get rid of, so he lives in the garage. There are a million ways you could write Bachman out of the script and leave them in the house. Not that it really matters. It's gotten kind of stale, anyway, so maybe a change of scenery would do the show some good.

Is Bachman an indispensable character? Other than maybe Richard (who I find to be by far the most annoying character any time he's on screen), nobody is indispensable. There isn't anyone who couldn't be replaced with another quirky character.

Martin Starr looks exactly like a friend I use to play D&D eons ago. I see Kumail Nanjiani (Dinesh) is in a movie and some more tv shows. Don't think I have seen Martin in any other show/movie.

I've probably mentioned this before, but check out Party Down if you can find it. Great comedy that was on for Starz two years from 2009 to 2010. Starr plays a similar character. He does what he does very well, but it might be that he doesn't have a lot of acting range.

The ongoing joke "I'm only interested in real Sci-Fi" Starr's character did was amusing, but I thought the rest of the show was meh at best.
