HBO's Girls - worst TV show ever?

Holy crap. I basically lost a bet, so I had to watch Girls with a friend of mine. She thinks it is the greatest TV show ever. Apparently a lot of women find it ground breaking or something.


Old thread revived by noob with no additional information - although the show is still on in 2015. I guess somebody's watching it.

I don't know about the "a lot of women" comment. There was just a survey in the HuffPo about how most of the people watching this shitty show are males.
 
It's groundbreaking insofar as it depicts a pudgy girl, rather than a hot one, on TV, with her tits out.

That's the only show on HBO that is almost too painfully bad to watch.
 
She like shows her tits in every episode. I understand its HER show and she's comfortable with her body...but she is always visually assaulting people with her tits.

My summation of the show:

There is this fat, ugly, self important, whining whore that does dumb stuff. Oh, and she's fat and ugly, and she whines a lot. Almost as bad as that whore Maher.
 
I've never seen it, but based on the high level of vitriol in this thread I may have to check it out. A strong negative response is better than apathy.

I've only seen the trailer for this and listened to the actress do an interview on NPR about the show. I was a little shocked to see it getting rave reviews but the actress seemed affable and smarter than her character came off as in the trailers. It looked like one of those indie movies about listless characters where nothing really happens in TV show form. I like to watch those kind of movies every once and awhile despite the lack of any satisfying ending or even traction by the characters but a show form one would be to much to me.

The main character also looked phenomenally stupid and lacking of any sense of purpose or direction. If I wanted to watch people like that I'd just go for a drive, not turn on HBO.

That said, I'm not surprised its somewhat popular with men. The title girls coupled with tits being shown should be enough to get a fair amount of men to watch it.
