bran the bait@ godswood tree

guarded by just no balls with a bow and dragon glass arrows?
somehow I don't think the night king will be alone in coming for Bran.

anyone else helping guard bran?

I thought there was a comment about a handful of redshirts joining him.

Anyway he's going to get into a hand to hand fight with the Night King. The Night King is going to deliver what he thinks is a debilitating blow to Theons crotch but Surprise! It doesn't bother Theon in the least as he drives a dragon glass dagger into the Night Kings skull

If Lyanna Mormont doesn't kill the night king by stabbing him in the face with a dragonglass spear and viciously mock him as he lays dying on the ground, what are we even doing?

thought the waif stabbed her in the stomach??

Well the waif stabs Arya 3-4 times in her lower right side. So the scars are in roughly the same ballpark.

Of course the 3-4 stab wounds to the gut including the twisted one and a swim in sewage contaminated waters isn’t that bad since it only took her a day and some chicken soup to get better.

If Targaryens are the only ones who can ride dragons and the Night King is riding one....

***MAJOR SPOILERS***

Arya ending the whole NK plot seemed forced and rushed, all those years of buildup to just end on that note is very anti-climatic, everything right up until the end of the episode was great though. I was sure Arya was going to die as that's exactly what GRRM would do.

What was the whole point of Bran? Where did he go the whole episode?

So now it's down to Cersi/Euron versus everyone which is disappointing. I hope in that last episodes we actually get the twist GOT was acclaimed for.

I'm not sure I agree with you. If anything they've been building this all up since season 1. The whole "Not today" thing can be foreshadowing, as well as the convo with the Red Lady who points out the convo they had all those years ago. While it was a bit one and done, I can't say it didn't come out of no where.

I was surprised at how many important characters actually survived that myself.

Tormund and brienne can still make some big babies for now! :D

I don't really see the series up to this point as pushing for the kind of shocking deaths or twists that have happened many times before--because in the end all of those shocking deaths were really just characters that didn't matter. We have the principles now. ...but yeah I'm still surprised that half of them weren't killed off in this episode.

I agree that the end of this storyline feels a bit abrupt--maybe Bran will fill in some holes next episode and tell us what exactly he was up to during that fight--but fire crotch witch lady did tell Arya back in...season 2? that she would be killing some blue eyes or something.

...I don't recall seeing Tormund in the end, but I also don't recall seeing him getting killed. I don't know, 92% of the episode was nearly pitch black for me, lol.

What the fuck did I watch? For all the supposed experience and intelligence that had to be the stupidest defensive strategy I have ever seen.
We've got trebuchets and two giant flying roman candles but lets send our cavalry rushing off into the darkness to fight...something. We don't know what or where they are but we will charge blindly into something!

And they spent all that time building trebuchets that fired for...maybe 5 seconds? And then left them out in front of everything. Not to mention the narrowest, shallowest trench ever created. Probably should have spent less time building things they weren't going to defend and more time on smaller trench in front of the army (to slow the enemy down) and a larger trench behind. Or at least something I couldn't jump across.

And nothing at the walls? No burning oil to pour on the hoard as they climb the walls to then light on fire? No murder holes from which to stab, fire or pour oil as they climbed the wall?

Daenerys parking her dragon on the ground in the middle of an undead army and then being surprised when they attacked her and the dragon. Way to get Sir Friend Zone killed

And the over played trope of a coward (Sam) who gets his friend killed because he's a little bitch

I was too

Awesome episode and I do agree, it was quite dark for a lot of the episode lol.

Yeah I was glad I made the decision to watch that in my basement on the projector. Would have been tougher on my (and I'm guessing most) TVs.

^ It was a rough ride on my plasma. Cranked my brightness all the way up basically.

Mixed feelings on the episode. It definitely did not go how I thought it would and just overall, I have a general feeling of being let down. I didn't hate it but something about it has left me feeling a little empty.

they missed a major crossover opportunity.

As the Night King stares longingly at Bran, he speaks his first words of the series.....

"We... are Groot."

This is the conversation Melisandre reminded Arya of from Season 3:

Screen Shot 2019-04-29 at 7.10.53 AM.png

Walder Frey had brown eyes, the Night King blue, and the most likely candidate for green is Cersei.

Whatever happens I think it's extremely improbable that Cersei gets out of this alive due to her usual overconfidence or Arya's enormous making people dead capability.
