If the First Children have possessed grenades all along, how did they lose the war against the axe-wielding, primitive Westeros men?

and if they created the white walkers, why couldn't they uncreate them?

Well it seems their numbers are limited and remember that their normal weapons are made from obsidian and suck against normal armor.

There is some backstory here and it looks like the white walkers were the primary reason but remember that there are a lot of stories of people creating something only to be destroyed by it.

Skynet comes to mind. ;)

That tree scene was the 2nd worst/lame scene in GOT 2nd only to the dragon riding scene

could Varys be a bastard prince? The only people those witches seem to sacrifice are people of royal blood...hmmm

i hope that bran doesn't realize he can change the past if people can hear him and go and save his entire family.

I think if anything we're going to realize Bran has already altered the past to make the events we have seen true, just like what happened with Hodor. Someone suggested Bran might be possible for the mad king for example.

This.

What about robert arryn? Who is to say that he wasn't being driven mad by bloodraven?

It is obvious that bran can change the past. It's obvious that bloodraven has likely been doing this for quite some time.

yeah i'm just hoping they don't go the other route too. i don't see them doing that though with the direction the show has gone thus far.

I feel bad for Hodor - doomed to spend an entire adulthood as a simpleton mute just because his destiny is to hold a door shut for 30 seconds and then get torn apart by walking dead...

He also protected Bran post Winterfell sacking, but yeah... :'(

Just watched last night, and I'm too lazy to respond to everything here (there's some really good points/questions you've all brought up)

I do believe that Jaqen sent Arya to that play as the ultimate test -- knowing that it was about her family and that the person she was to murder was a "good person". It will be interesting to see if wants or expects her to fail - and that is his intent/hope. Does this possibly tie into the history lesson on the faceless men he gave her? I forget exactly what the history was.

There were lots of good new boobs. Too many to count. Casting on this show is awesome.

I think this is why Esbern told Bran that he "wasn't ready" this past episode, but needed to become him [meaning Esbern] anyway because White King was about to wax him.

My guess is that Bran becoming Esbern--essentially taking his role and controlling the Raven thing--means that Bran now sees and does all the things that Esbern once did.

This means that Esbern has been doing all these things with this Raven all along, and since Bran has been determined by whatever way this is determined to fulfill that role later in life, Esbern has been following and directing Bran all his life through the Raven. Bran would now have full vision of how the past formed and directed the future. He both is and isn't a meddler in the past. The energy that passed from Esbern to him grants him that knowledge.

To me, this eliminates the future-past bullshit, because you essentially have Esbern fiddling with all of these things throughout the years via that raven, including meddling with little Hodor. It means that while Bran has always been destined to become that role (kinda like how the new Daali Lama replaces the previous because the spirit was transferred at birth), he hasn't been doing this stuff in the past. Becoming Esbern at that moment means that Bran now sees all the things that Esbern once did....or something like that.

would be interesting if there was a "raven" before esbern, as he said he had been in the tree for 1000 years and, IIRC the walkers have been around for like 10x longer then that

Please tell me the show trolled us. It has to be on purpose.

We get to see glorious boobs on this episode, and mere seconds later, we get a full blown FRONTAL of someone's uncircumcised penis at close-up.

The whole "cock in the face" scene was odd. I'm not saying there shouldn't be more male frontal nudity (that's just fair I'd think), but the way that was "displayed" for us was very odd. I don't really get the purpose.

There were also some titty scenes that just seemed like "hey, we haven't shown any tits this episode yet... toss some in" Again, I am not against this, but it just seemed sort of pointless.

Got to meet them quotas.

The cock scene was dumb. I understand they feel some pressure from people about not just showing female nudity on the show, but surely there was a better way to show some (g)eye candy naked dude rather than a random closeup with no part in the story line as a whole. No need to have some random dick flash in a closeup.

The whole play was needed to show several things (Arya not being "no one" yet, how the people perceive the events etc), but they could have made it much shorter, it didn't need to be that long.

The scene with the wight army coming after Bran seemed very TWD-ish... horde of zombies coming after a small group of people etc. How did the wights / white walker / night king show up in like minutes at the tree to come after Bran? Were they just kind of hanging out near there or something?

I think the idea is to show us how crass and low cultured the troupe is.

Real point is that the writers are having fun following the usual breast shots with gross out scenes. Like what they did with elderly Melisandre.

One can say that about 90% of the female anatomy displays in the show. Very little story need for any of it.

I don't think this cock is about quotas or trying to be "equal," or what you guys are all hinting at: SJWs ruining my entertainment content yet again--but I think it was simply: "Lol--here's a cock in your face, assholes!"

I chuckled.

I agree that the play was both important but also too long. It was at least a minute too long for what was needed to convey both Arya's current state and the general peasantry of Westeros' understanding of world events.

I would assume they were there already while trying to figure out how to get past the 3eyed raven's shields.

but if so, why didn't he tell bran they're outside?
or any of the tree folk tell him either?

if woody had gone to the police, none of this would have happened.

unless the 3eyed raven wanted this to happen?
sacrifice his treefolk for a greater purpose (ie: bran)

Agreed 100% to all of this.
