Just got back home from a 7 day trip to Nashville, Tennessee where I attended a "Get Motivated!" seminar that my Dad had tickets to... at the time, I thought he wanted to go to actually learn something, but at the end of the day, it became pretty apparent he wanted to go to see Gen. Tommy Franks... (whooptie f***in' doo...)
At any rate... I learned a hella lot... had a great time... met some pretty cool people, got Peyton Manning & Steve "Air" McNair's autograph on two seperate footballs I picked up at Wal-Mart the day before when I found out they were gonna be there. Rudy Giuliani was there too, but his security detail was five people strong, and I know from experience that sometimes its just best to not try to say "hi". Zig Zigler was there too... a little too religious for me personally, but still, a great speaker (and great man). I have no idea why in the hell they got Tommy Franks to speak... he didn't say anything at all worth a damn, other than showering praise on the military (not that we don't deserve it); I mean, c'mon, you're there at a motivational / investment seminar, talk about how you motivated troops or something; give people some insights instead of playing the tired old four star routine (anyone in the forces that's been around anyone with 4 stars will know exactly what I mean by this).
When that 757 touched down at HNL, I was so happy... I didn't realize how much I really missed Hawai'i until I was gone for 7 days... this place truly is home; I almost wanted to plop down in the aisle and scream out, "I'm hoooooommme.... I'm HOOOOOOOOOMMMMEEEE ah ha... ah ha...", yeah... but I didn't, because I still have some sanity left.
Anyone who gets the chance to check out one of these "Get Motivated!" seminars, I hafta say that for $39, I have to recommend them... there's a lot of good information put out from the course of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Just don't be a crappy planner like my Dad & his business associate were... I mean... let's face it, if you put 6,000 people into a convention center... in the middle of a city like Nashville, TN... and then you turn them all loose at the same exact time for lunch... YES MORONS... we won't get to eat! Thanks Dad! Of course, it could just be that I'm a complusive planner who will map out every single detail, would have ensured we would have been at the convention center at 6:45 a.m. when the doors opened, would have called ahead at the best restaurant in Nashville and had a table reserved and waiting on us, and would have ensured we got parking right beside the convention center... but I digress.
I'm hoooooommmmee!!! I'm HOOOOOOOMMMMMEEEEEEE!!! [plops around on the ground waving arms and kicking feet]
