And cancel service with AT&T for that phone, report it as stolen.

What's he gonna do with a brick?

Fvcking AT&T won't block a phone based on its IMEI number, only SIM card, to block calls from being made from just that card. Since there was no SIM card when I shipped it, they told me I was basically screwed.

So did you call UPS and tell them he said it wasn't delivered? What did they say?

And have you contacted trollhunters yet?

UPS just opened an investigation after I spent ~45 minutes on the phone with them. Apparently since I shipped from a UPS store, the UPS store itself has to open a claim. My UPS store isn't being very cooperative, though, saying that it was signed for and UPS is no longer responsible.

UPS said they would get back to me within 8 business days. Hopefully something comes up. I'm still not 100% convinced I'm being scammed. Why would the scammer keep e-mailing me if he already has the phone? Then again, he could be doing that just so he looks legitimate. Ah, why can't everyone be honest 😛?

I'm working with a fellow ATOT member to get in touch with Trollhunters.

Thanks everyone!

call the cops. tell them you want to report a possible theft. they will go there and knock on the door. the guy is a lying sack of shit troll.

Then, you never want to ship from a UPS store if you want the insurance to be good?

You think I should go ahead and call now, or wait for the UPS investigation to be over?

Basically. Major WTF at UPS for this...

Also, b/c I shipped at a UPS store, I had to call the store and get them to e-mail me the signature, rather then view it myself. UPS FTL.

Please give updates to the pwnage that you are going to inflict. I always love seeing a troll get ripped a new one. I had someone on these forums do something to me (sold me a comp with XP included but he would not provide a CD Key. I reported the key though and MS supposedly deactivated it) and I still regret not screwing them back. I haven't seriously traded on here since.

It wouldn't hurt- tell them that UPS has an open investigation and that you'll update them when you get more info...or maybe they'll call UPS, who may be a bit more receptive to communicating with them than they are with you.

Sounds good. I'm going to wait to see if this guy e-mails me back one more time. In my last e-mail, I attached the signature UPS has on file, so I want to see how he responds. If I don't get an answer by tomorrow morning, I'll call his police department.

Maybe I'll just make a road trip this weeend...

I had to file a claim with UPS before. I would rather slam my dick in a car door than have to go through that again.

This man speaks the truth. UPS is absolutely terrible about claims. They tell lies, ignore you, and bounce your package from location to location.

I have a story about them destroying a computer and not wanting to pay up. After two weeks of BS, I started recording the precise details of every conversation with them for the next two weeks. I then called corporate and presented my documentation of their lies and said that I would be filing a claim with the attorney general. Funny, the next day they decided to pay me.

Heres a weird thing... have you called UPS yet? The sooner the better. That way the driver might remember something from yesterday but not sevarel days ago, esp over a weekend break.
.

Stop talking crazy. We all know that complaining on forums is much more effective than actually calling that shipping company.

I've been away from OT for a minute, I needed a break from a few trolls around here. Anyhow, glad I checked in.

I won't make any promises but pm me and I'll get what details you have to a few people who might be able to rattle his cage enough to get you what you need.

I guess you're in luck because one friend is a plain clothes warrant officer who lives over that way (but works in a neighboring county), and another good friend has been at UPS for 15 years. I'll see what he can do, if anything, on that end.

As others have said though, you need to call local law enforcement asap. If for no other reason that to have a record of this if help from that jurisdiction is required by the people I talk to.

BTW, I do hate iPhones, just thought you should know 😉

Wow...ATOT for the win, seriously.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has offered to help. It's nice to know there's a community out there that is really out there to help its members.

Thanks again.

Just a quick update. Anderson, SC Police Department basically said I'm on my own until UPS finishes their "investigation," and they can't do anything at this point, not even fill out a report.

Update #2: Just got a e-mail from the guy, after I told him I would be calling the police:

"Alright I have not recieved the phone. You do what you have to. I have not signed or recieved anything."

Maybe he is telling the truth after all?

I haven't traded at all, but common sense tells me that *if* he claims he hasn't received the phone, why UPS would say that it was signed and delivered. If he didn't do it, shouldn't he be somewhat interested that someone else had intercepted his package?

And as someone pointed out, he originally promised to ship once you gave him a tracking number.

Something smells 😕

Well, on his side, what does he care? He didn't ship out his phone, and since there was no money traded, he really has nothing to lose.

I'm not saying he isn't a scammer, and I'm 99% sure he is. I'm just saying that UPS isn't perfect...

No, UPS isn't perfect, far from it. But, in my experience, they don't let you see the label of the package before you sign for it - so unless somebody knew it was coming and who it was for, they couldn't have signed the same name as on the package. The fact it was signed with this guys last name makes me think he's scamming you.
