I gotta say, I lived in Norman for nearly 2 1/2 years, and it was easily the worst place I've ever spent a meaningful amount of time. Hopefully your mileage will vary!

Heh, it is funny I've really enjoyed it here, and not just because of her. I dunno, I've lived in the big cities and the rural areas, and this place is just darn cool.

Now Starkville, MS on the otherhand -- what a hellhole.

Hey now! :D

I lived in Starkville while attending MSU and while it wasn't that bad, I could never live in a small college town. Tupelo is much, much better.

Yeah, I attended MSU for awhile, I wouldn't say it is a 3 world country or anything, but just not for me!!!

Mill,

I live in Norman, about 2 block north of campus. Glad you got an introduction to our weather last night. The family and I were at a movie in OKC, had a very late dinner, got home, turned on the TV, and said "wtf? 50mph wind and hail in OKC? We were just there, and it was fine!"

As Will Rogers once said, "If you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, just wait 5 minutes."

I've become a homebody since we had our little one, but you might check out The Opolis for some good local bands. And Pepe DelGado's on Campus Corner rocks for food (and now tequila). And last night we found out that the Cine Capri in Bricktown is the place to check out new movies (30ftx70ft screen, with 150 spkr sound system).

Welcome to our oasis amongst the rednecks ;)

"The Spirit of Aggieland"

Some may boast of prowess bold.
Of the schools they think so grand,
But there's a spirit can ne'er be told,
It's the spirit of Aggieland.

We are the Aggies-the Aggies are we,
True to each other as Aggies can be,
We've got to FIGHT, boys,
We've got to FIGHT!
We've got to fight for maroon and white.
After they've boosted all the rest,
They will come and join the best.
For we are the Aggies-the Aggies are we,
We're from Texas A.M.C.

T-E-X-A-S, A-G-G-I-E,
Fight! Fight! Fight-Fight-Fight!
Fight! Maroon! White-White-White!
A-G-G-I-E, Texas! Texas! A-M-C!
Gig'em Aggies! 1! 2! 3!
Farmers Fight! Farmers Fight!
Fight-Fight
Farmers, Farmers, Fight!

LOL. If Tupelo is better I shudder to think what Starkville is like! :p You do have a damn good Chinese restaurant across from the mall though!

 You must be referring to the New China Buffet. I used to live about 3 minutes away from it and ate there too much. :)

While you're there you might roadtrip up to Moore and check out Skulls Unlimited, neat place.

Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. Your choice was Iraq or Oklahoma and you picked Oklahoma? I'm not sure you made the right choice.

Ok, to be fair I have spent some time in Oklahoma and in my opinion it is second only to Texas in quantity of good looking women.

Let me guess . . . you've only ever been to Texas and Oklahoma!

I lived in OK for nearly 2 1/2 years, and have lived at various times in Minnesota, Washington, NY, California, Alabama, Wisconsin, Arizona, Alaska, the Czech Republic, and a classified location in the middle east. Of those, only Alaska and our tent city in the middle east had fewer attractive women, and in both cases it was because the ratio was at least 5 men to 1 woman.

I was at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery. I have also spent a fair amount of time in Mobile (which I kind of like) and a bit in Birmingham (which also seems like a decent town). Montgomery is the pits, but there were a fair number of cute women there.

I thought you were moving to mexico?

Sometimes you realize you just need some time off and a change in life to clear your head, and that's what I got. So, I'm gonna go back to the old grind, but I had that moment of clarity and have a new purpose. Call it an early mid-life crisis.

Heh Mid-life crisis sux!

Ah, I was making sure you weren't in hell (Ft. Rucker) -- that's where her ex-husband had heli training at, but I already knew how craptastic Dothan is. Yeah, Montgomery is kind of eh, but Mobile is cool, and Birmingham is getting better. The Suburbs of Bham certainly have a decent amount of attractive women. I wasn't really paying attention to the women in Norman at any rate! :p

Glad to hear things are going so well for you now. Just enjoy the way things are and don't think too much about where it'll lead for now.
