I go about 50 round trip, and about 35 minutes going there, then about an hour and a half going back.. (LA to Long Beach on the 405 🙁 )

You should, it's a p.o.s. 91 Dodge Spirit with 145k miles on it. I'm thinking about replacing it with a 94-97 Miata.🙂

That is an excellent car for the commute though. If it is a 4 cylinder, it gets good gas mileage and it is reliable. If it is the Mitsubishi V6, get rid of that thing before it strands you!

Riding the train for 45 minutes isn't nearly as bad as driving for 45 minutes. You can basically relax and unwind on the train. You can:
Eat
Drink
Read a book
Read the paper
Write
Watch a DVD
Listen to headphones
Sleep...

That's what I do on my commute 🙂

You can't eat or drink on trains here... where are you ? Is that the "L" ?

I was living 15 min away but recently moved back in with parents to go part time and full time in school, plus it saves me money that can be sent to a car loan to pay it off by September. Once this is paid off I plan on finding a job within 10 min of my familys home.

why would you want to live so close to work? that would just make you that more accesible or able to go in when you don't need to. i'd think a 20-30 minute drive is just about right....driving relaxes me for the most part, except for the occasional road rage and dealing with stupid mofos on the road part 🙂

are you stupid? i will answer for your: yes.

LOL i live in the same neighborhood as my office now (moved recently), so i live .2 miles from work. its a rough 15 seconds LOL.

I have 3.5 Mile commute.
It used to be 1 mile, but I moved further away because I was getting no exercise biking to work 1 mile. 😀
I preffer to keep it 3-4 miles away.

It's the plain 2.4L four cylinder. It only gets around 28-30mpg on the highway though.

Does anyone know what sort of mileage a manual Miata gets?

My commute is about 65 miles miles both ways. For the most part the traffic isn't bad, driving on the interstate through the cornfields. The only crappy part is driving through East St.Louis

Man, and I thought I had it bad. It takes me 20 whole minutes to get to work. The 1 mile walk is very stressful, let me tell you.

😀

About 64 miles round trip a day and I hate it. It normally takes about an hour each way, I so miss my last job that was only about 4 miles away. I used to be able to come home for lunch and relax for a bit.

Two words to make your commute much, much more tolerable:

satellite radio

I don't even have a CD player in my car.

:Q

My commute is 73 miles each way and there's just no way I could handle it without a CD player.
