Havent been to McDonalds in a very long time. Apparently hash browns are two bucks a pop.

they only sell McRibs when pork prices are extremely low.
Which is why you can get them twice in one year, or never again thanks to the economy.
In the past 10-15 years it's pretty reliably been the November/December timeframe. When they were doing Monopoly you used to be able to count on McRib availability as soon as Monopoly was over. We never had them twice in one year while I was living in Nebraska, but some regional availability does differ.
They're always available in Germany.

That's exactly what I do except they go from freezer straight to the cast iron skillet. I use olive oil. Then I try to drain as much of the oil as I can back into the skillet, and press them against paper towels to remove even more of the oil.

I've always got a small cast iron skillet on my stove with olive oil in it that can fit two hash browns. I don't use that skillet for anything else, lol.

Damn things are good.
I use peanut oil myself for frying those hashbrowns. Salt and a chili mix powder I make. If I decide to make it into a sandwich I'll soft boil a few eggs and skip the butter frying. People have got too much time on their hands to make hash the old fashioned way with grating and squeezing.

Went to lunch at Olive Garden today. $11 for spaghetti, soup and breadsticks. Compare that to McDonalds $17 for... CRAP OUT OF THE TRASH.
Well, I consider McDonalds crap right out of the trash.
Seriously, you can eat much better and much cheaper by avoiding fast-food altogether, especially these days post-Covid. And with Olive Garden spaghetti you know you're eating spaghetti. With McDonalds you have not a clue as to what you're really eating. The Q's claim its dead bodies, and I'm starting to believe it. McD sure tastes like something dead.
True fact, my dogs won't even touch a McDonalds hamburger. That right there tells me something.

You, uh, expecting your McDonald's to taste like it's alive? Traditionally cheeseburgers are made from dead cows.

Starches are always tastier than meat.

If you want to be really picky "real" spaghetti is bronze cut and good enough that a real Italian approves its taste. Or the really real Italians make their own with tools and knowledge of recipes from "home".

actually now that I think about it in junior high and senior high they told us 3-9-3.
So, WTF??
80s was when low fat was dominant and the food industry basically paid nearly all the scientists bribes to parrot that

Carb were and still are the sacred yet toxic macro.

Eat more carbs
Only 3 calories added.
Then humans eat 200-250 grams of simple carbs per day and can't stop because visceral hormones.

Then also eat crappy tasting, unsatisfying lean protein.

All the while, people start having choline deficiency, really crater their vitamin K, D, and calcium, and gobble down trans fats

Olive garden is mostly microwaved food. They barely actually cook anything there.

That place is fucking trash it's just cheap lots of salt and cream. Probably worse for you than McDonald's

Yes, and 9/4 = 2.25 << 3

I like my homemade pork breakfast sausage, but consume at least an equal amount of Dibrova Andouille Sausages.

My homemade sausage:

1 lb. pork, ground
1/2 - 1 t salt
pepper 1/2t
sage (rubbed) 1/2t
ginger 1/8t
nutmeg 1/4t
thyme 1/4t
paprika 1/4t
water 2 oz (don't put in less or it's tougher to extrude!!!)
onion

Cut pork in small pieces, add the rest and grind in your attachment. Extrude with DIY sausage extruder.

Yes.

For my body

At least.

And if the meat does taste good...sugar or glucose be saying hi. Meat is terrible in desirability without sugar/glucose for me. I got raised on Asian stir fry. No sugar and no cornstarch=dull.

I'm the type who would eat unseasoned white rice/bread/pasta or tofu over unseasoned meat if left to instincts and it's not I'm having iron cravings. I'm a genetic sweet fiend.

Fair enough, I thought you were speaking as a generality.
I do love good bread, but white rice and pasta are just "filler" for me, they don't hold much appeal. My sweet tooth manifests in the form of things like fine chocolate and candy.
But if I have to choose between a steak seasoned with only salt and pepper or a baked potato, I'm picking the steak every time.
