My home computer is called "debian". Creatively, my work computer is also called "debian". Those are the names they were given on install. I see no need to change them.

My workstations are Falcon, and Eagle. It was more or less randomly thought up at the time of setting them up.

I tend to give names to all my servers/VMs too but there's no real theme to it. Some of them are after LOTR, some of them are sci fi related, and some of them are just literally what the server is for. :p My most unoriginal name is "firewall". It's the firewall.

My oldest server is called Borg and is running Fedora Core 9. Every time I think it's time to decommission it, it just doesn't happen. Resistance is futile. I did virtualize it a few years back though. The core2quad box is still sitting in my server rack and I have a feeling if I try to move it I will anger hundreds of generations of spiders that are probably living in there. That box would still make a respectable NAS though, it has 10 drive bays. Might actually repurpose it as a NVR for when I setup cameras.

My desktop is getting a little old so I just call it Necro.

- Personally I really love Necro's threads. Churns the pot so to speak, gives the board a connection to it's past, stirs up memories and feelings regarding forum members who are no longer active posters and moved on in their lives.

I love Necro'd threads so much I would even proudly call myself a Necrophiliac

It's what I named my PC anyway...

Every computer I've ever owned (and probably ever will own) has had the same name sometime in it's existence.

The name "You Stupid Piece of Sh*t" always seemed fitting at some point in it's lifespan

18+ years digs are rare, but something that you could not even have done a decade ago.
I was going through my posting history and found this thread, and figured it was one that people could jump right back into, as the question would never be past it's time. Some of the old names were nice to see too. Plus, I wanted to see the world from the pome-writer's shoes! :p

This is why mine started being referred to as 'sh*tbox' and it just stuck. Pretty sure that started with the first AMD64 systems I built, as they were somewhat problematic, lol.
