My old computers network name was "Tower of Power", My roomates is "Meincomp", I had a server named "Chef", and my currently computer's name is "Maria" named after my other roomates mom.
I have 2 computers. One is a really old comp that I use for nothing but browsing. I call it "Nef."
My other comp is pretty new and I use it for gaming, among other things. I call it "Fap."
My workgroup is Fett and each of the PCs in my house has a Fett name. My file server's name is Slave1, the workstation is named Jengo, and the game box is named Boba.
technically its named wasteland, in windows and such and thats how it shows up on the network, but i really dont call it anything other then "computer"

That said, to stay on topic, yes. Static IP's from DHCP with name included.
i7-2600 was "zero" (like the Type 0 carrier fighter, "0" being the last digit of the imperial year 2600)
New Ryzen 7 system got name "raphael" (since I did not spot any nice 7800-related).
At work network (and Windows) names are based on date+serial, but I have nicknames in ssh config and/or Ansible inventories.
