Kaiser has posted this.

"Flu shots will be available starting September 8. Kaiser Permanente is reviewing the FDA's approval of the 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine and awaiting CDC guidance. COVID-19 vaccines are expected in mid-September. Please check back for eligibility and details."

My guess is that Trump is tickled pink to kave Kennedy as a target of hate. That should be worth a few million deaths. It should draw focus away from the Pedophile in Chief.

Look over there; focus on him.

Nope it was covered.
You hope. Your insurance most likely hasn't even been billed yet, or it's still in the pending stage, and they could very well deny the claim, putting you on the hook. It's not uncommon, for insurance to show that they cover something via the doctor's/pharmacy portal, for them to deny it later once they have reviewed the claim.

My insurance said publicly they would cover. Also went to their preferred partner (CVS in this case) so think I should be good. Worst case for me might be a surprise copay or something.

Might also depend on the state you're in.

Red states will likely try to make you pay 100%.

LOL! Oh, I hope you are not in for a shocking revolation. What they "publically" claim they will cover, and what they actually cover is all dependant on current federal, state requirements, and plan coverage as stated in the plan contract. I've been down the road of insurance companies claiming something is covered, only to find out later that it's not.

Yep, just checked after I got an email push to get my flu shot. So I checked and they are still evaluating the Covid shot. WTF, I thought Washington, Oregon, and California had some agreement.

I got mine day before yesterday, and none too soon, given the news about growing COVID infections in CA at the moment.

I have COPD. I'm getting better, but I'll always have it -- even if I don't develop lung cancer for a smoking habit of 50 years. I decided to wean myself from my Trelegy Ellipta inhalant. I was surprised. At first, i was expectorating more sputum, but starting yesterday, the additional expectorations were gone. Today I was clear. My daily 1-mile walks are easier.

But I'm not taking any chances by getting infected with COVID. The after-effects of the vaccination were actually mild -- just soreness in my upper biceps. When the Moderna vaccine was first released, my second vaccination in 2021 left me feeling like a 90,000 lb MAC truck had rolled over me and I'd been dropped from a 6-story building -- for three days running. I'll never forget that experience.

I joke though. When I'm out in public in a crowd of people and I have to cough or make noises to get the sputum out of my throat, I tell people afterward: "It's OK, folks! I have COPD -- not COVD!"

I'd get mine, but Maine requires a prescription still. I have a physical next month though, so I'll probably ask for it there.

If you want avoid covid (your life may depend upon that) you should be "covid cautious" AKA CC. Wear N95 or equivalent anywhere you're at risk of contagion. Don't throw caution to the wind, period.

My 1st covid shot (Moderna in IIRC April 2021), had my arm sore, it hurt for a day or two to raise it above head level. 2nd shot (also Moderna) much milder arm soreness. Had 7 shots since, my reactions were mild to negligible.

I DO know that the shots and boosters don't give "total" protection. A close friend died in November 2022 -- he had stage 4 lung cancer but was getting chemo for it. His wife was a doctor who had just retired from FDA. He had excellent health care. He had a stroke and was transported to a hospital ER. I KNOW he'd kept up with his shots. He caught COVID in the ER! And he F***ing DIED! When I'd asked him before that about the lung cancer, he told me "I guess I didn't quit smoking soon enough." PhD in Physics, had grants for research in plasma physics and the Ulysses spacecraft project -- and he was stupid like me. The difference: He was a red-headed Irish "ginger" person with probably greater susceptibility to the disease in its various forms.

But thanks for reminding me. I was going to check my inventory of masks and masking devices -- to-dayyyy! (Even a 3M paint-respirator -- part of a costume like Dustin Hoffman in "Outbreak" so I could scare people and freak them out for a good laugh back in 2020). If I have to, I'll pick up some more N-95 masks. Busy today with errands anyway.

Good thing: I went to the dentist today for my checkup and they didn't "find" anything. I've got to "watch my money" this year for reasons I won't describe at this time just to spare you the details, but I sold a rental-property last year and you can search on "IRMAA" and figure it out.

My favorite mask is the 3M 9210+ N95 (I have over 60 new ones in wrappers). I also have a bunch of 3M 9211+ N95 which appear to be the same except they have a one-way vent in front. I use those for outdoors aerobic activity, in particular hiking. I'm actually more comfortable wearing them than not.

I'm thinking of looking for N99's for flying, I saw a post by someone who uses those for flying.

Probably good info at https://www.reddit.com/r/Masks4All/

This was my "Outbreak" costume: 3M paint-respirator with a pink filter on either cheek; woodland camo (Marine-corps issue) Gore-tex rain parka; blue nitrile surgical gloves; and the clear plastic shop goggles you can find at Home Depot. Ha! I'd go into COSTCO and get these looks from people, walking down the aisle they would sort of stand back to get their eyeful.

Did I already say this? I have a brown cowboy hat like the one Clint Eastwood wears in "Unforgiven" as the terrible outlaw, William Money -- as described by the sympathetic blond prostitute who'd had her face cut up by a customer: "I heard you was William Money, blowin' up trains and killin' womens and childrens! [sobbing]" I ordered some "Train-man" bandanas -- larger than normal so you could look like a real cowpoke or western bank robber -- my favorite was black with red paisleys, so big it would crumple slightly, resting on your chest.

That's the outfit I wore to visit Bank of America when it opened in the morning -- customers all standing in a queue outside the bank. I got some memorable looks from the other customers, I tell ya! I certainly wasn't suicidal enough to mix it up with the bank guards! They DID eye me with looks of apprehension, though!

I thought masking was fun, but it kept me in denial about my COPD, attributing my breathing handicap to the masks I wore.

Stopped by our pharmacist today and they said they have them. Will probably go back tomorrow when I have time to get the jab. I forgot to ask if it's still covered by insurance though. I usually get the flu shot at the same time, so we'll see. The pharmacist said covid is pretty active in our little community. They do swabs at the pharmacy and he said 3 tested positive just today alone.

Kaiser going to make me make 2 trips at this point, I can go in and get a flu shot (high dose in my case, cause I'm old), but they are still dicking the dog about COVID shots. Contrary to statements above. I'm sure I can get my Primary to give me a script for it. It's just more Trump disinfo crap.

How would it not be still covered by your insurance? Do they and the medical community now take their cues from the Shame of the Kennedys or the Criminal-in-Chief? If so, what has our country and the human race come to?

Who told me recently that the new vaccine booster is 4x more effective than the previous? Good! I'll get mine, and the vaccine deniers can all f***in' die! Many shall die, but I -- shall live!!

I"m so angry about the politics of this and the absurd GOP behavior that got Herman Caine killed by COVID -- I wouldn't bat an eye if a replacement administration just rounded all those people up with their grandmothers and kids and forced them to take the needle. SCREW their ignorant freedom!! I sure don't care about theirs!
