Have you ever frozen?

Not because it's cold out, but as a defense mechanism your body automatically invoked?

There are 3 responses available to an animal (and that includes humans): 1) Fight 2) Flight and 3) Freeze - It can aid in the animal's escape by fooling it's prey, and if that won't work, it will keep you from feeling any pain if the prey starts to rip your throat out. It's something your reptilian brain does, you have no control over it.

I can think of 2 instances when my body has frozen, both when I was around 10 yrs old.

#1: Some a-hole's attack dog bit me
#2: I heard someone open the door to my house, called out, but no one answered

So what has happened to you that made you freeze?

LOL yeah, only time i can remember was when my gf let out her parents little dog into the yard... and the neighbours big dog comes along to smell him. He gets pissed and tries to take a bite at the butt sniffing, then they're both fighting. I was so in shock of what was happenign i froze and just watched.

I don't recall ever freezing. If I get scared, I jump back, but I've never been frightened so bad that I can't move.

As long as we're on the topic of emergency situations and fight or flight, it's important to keep a level head during an emergency. Lose your cool, you could make things worse or even lose your life.

I have frozen for a split second, but not for extended periods of time (2 secs at most). The only time I ever freeze is when something startles me and I am trying not to make noise.

YES, when i saw a big ass bug flying toward me in the house funny thing is for the past week i had noises from the window but than it disapeared and one day i was on pc and saw it and i got up ran and it was coming @ my face and i stood there couldnt move :/!
