Yup, I've fired several guns: Beretta 92, Glock 17, Sig P228, .38 Special, AR-15 and a MP5.![]()

Yes. I own 2 handguns (a .40 and a .380) and multiple shot guns and rifles (.22's, 30-30's, 12ga's, 20ga's, 410). As someone mentioned above, even if you don't own a gun, you should know how to use them, and respect them. The first rule of shooting for you n00bs is to treat every gun as if it were loaded. Unlike most things in life, accidents with firearms, are most times deadly.

Can you rent guns and buy ammo at most target ranges, or so you have to bring you own? I haven't fired a gun since I was a wee tyke, but I would kinda like to shoot of a few rounds once in a while.
I'd advise you to go with someone you know who has better experience, or take a hand gun safety class @ the range, before taking back up shooting. I found that when I got back into it a few years ago, many things I had learned about shooting as a child had left me. It's always better to be safe, than sorry.
Glad you had a good time. You didn't mention it one way or the other - but for the benefit of other gun newbies in this thread, never NEVER shoot guns without ear protection. With a .22 you can get away with it, but I know a guy whose ears never stopped ringing after one range trip with a .44. I've had tinnitus for 15 years (from guitars, not guns) and trust me, you don't want it.Originally posted by: theknight571
Ok... I figured it was better to resurrect this thread than to create one of my own.
Was on vacation last week and my wife's uncle took me to the "range". (In this use the term "Range" refers to a large pit that he found and now uses for practice)
Up until that day, I'd never seen or held anything more than a Daisy BB gun.
He started me out on a .22 Revolver of some sort, showed me the basics etc.
The next gun he puts in my hands is a .44 Magnum (a Ruger I think). Big difference. LOL
We went on to shoot:
-----Revolvers------
.22 Revolver
.22 "Magnum" Revolver (that's what he called it)
.357 Magnum
.38 Special
.44 Magnum
------Pistols------
9mm
.40
------Rifles------
AK-47
.22
Something they called a "300"
These are all in his personal collection.
The .22 rifle wasn't much different than a BB Gun, at least that's my opinion.
The AK-47 was cool... not too much kick.
The 300 bruised my shoulder.... it's still sore, almost a week later.
I have to admit... it was a lot of fun... and we killed alot of paper plates and pie tins.
We also used a 30pack of Milwaukee's best as targets...since that's about the only thing we figured it was good for.
My son went along too, and had a ball.
So I'm now thinking of getting one of my own... just for targets etc. I don't hunt and have no desire to.
