Most waitstaff will NOT do anything like this, as they have the good sense not to eat something into which they have already put their bodily fluids.
I used to work at Red Lobster and saw people do this. There would be times the food looked untouched and so some servers would take a bite before throwing it away. Kinda nasty but its on them I guess. The people who ate there when I worked there were pretty nasty so I wouldnt recommend it.

Why eat the leftovers when you can just "accidentally" cook the wrong thing, then eat it?
