walking there was pain in the asss but good times :) back seat inside a CHP car is uncomfortable for those who dont know :p

If you put your arms behind your back pretending you're handcuffed, it's actually quite comfortable.

Some of the NPD cars around here are vinyl seats without cutouts, which are uncomfortable as hell, but the rest are solid plastic with the cutouts. Those are comfortable.

I've never run out of gas.

Though, I have forgot to turn on the petcock valve on a motorcycle or two... but that doesn;t really count.

I risk it a lot (light has come on more times than I can count) but I've never actually run out.

4-5 times in various cars and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Most of you haven't driven cars where things like gas gauges don't work. I did it a few times in my 69 Camaro because the gas gauge wasn't a go fast part and I choose to spend my money on those.

The gauge on my 95 TranAm sucks and is wildly inaccurate in the low range. Burnt out the fuel pump because of it. I don't do it anymore in that car.

I've riden many a motorcycle with no gas gauge. You use the tripometer to judge when you're low on gas.

Never. My car has a 15.9 gallon tank, and the warning light turns on with about 2.5 to 2 gallons left, which mean I probably can go another 45 miles.

is it a ford? we have a car like that, but so far nobody's run out of gas in it.. the rule is don't go over 200 miles on the trip meter and always fill it up. it should be good for 300, and is good for a bit more than that on the highway (we can get from here to my parents with gas left over still.., and that's about 305 miles) but it's 18 years old so we figure 200 is safer bet for around town. :)

Gauge on my F-250 doesn't work either, and yep the tripometer works great for this.

Once, and I happened to be rolling past a gas station as the engine died.

Once, and it really wasn't my fault, what was even better was it was on the test drive :) Found out about the faulty gas gauge before I even really bought it.

Only once. I was 17 and in what was possibly the sh!ttiest car on earth which was still running. In addition to just about everything else in the car, the gas gauge was broken, so I had to go by miles - I'd set the trip odometer at fillup, then fillup again at 200 miles & repeat the process. Well, one time it didn't work out that way :( A friend was with me at least, so I had help pushing it. We weren't near a gas station though, and a cop eventually drove by, took pity on me & gave me a ride to the nearest one, where they loaned me a gas can. The cop drove me back to my beater and I was on my way - to the gas station to fill up & give back the gas can. I started filling up at 175.

Yes.

It gives the gas station license to screw you, because they'll demand a large fee to borrow a gas can.

many times.

more than 10 times.

80% of those times I had spare gas with me.

I had a car that the gas guage did not work, and it had a leak near the top
of the gas tank.

Till I fixed it,i carried a 2 1/2 gal gas can with gas in the trunk.

Nope. My warning light comes on when the needle is at about 1/16 on the gauge, but I still have about 3 gallons left in the tank at that point (since it's an 18 gallon tank and my largest fillups have been no more than 15 gallons).

Never. I usually fill up before it goes below 1/4 tank. When the orange light comes on there's like 3 gallons left so that's more than 100 miles I can go further.

I ran out of gas at the gate of the Will Rogers airport once.
I had just flown into OKC, went to my hotel, took the rental from a guy I was replacing and dropped him off at the airport so he could go home. It was late, I was tired, and I never thought some dickwad would give me a car with no gas.
A cabbie took me to get gas. The whole ordeal cost me 75 bucks.

spedometer didn't work either in the Camaro. Only gauges I needed were the tachometer, oil pressure, and temp.
