Hah, Skoorb.
The closest I've come to camping out for anything would have to be the PS2. I had a good feeling those would be fetching a mighty nice price after they all sold out.
I worked at Best Buy at the time and knew that what we were going to do was hand out numbers to people as they arrived so that they wouldn't be forced to sit outside all night. So, I just made sure that I had #1 and I made sure that a couple of friends showed up for two other #'s. My camping time totaled maybe 30-60 minutes and ended at around 11PM. It was great because the next morning I arrived and saw some massive line of people waiting around and made my way to the special 'For those who already have #'s' line. I kind of felt bad getting there 5 minutes before the store opened and then walking past over 100 people on my way to taking the #1 spot in line, waving at my two friends on the way up.
That was the fastest money I ever made. We sold one of the PS2's in the parking lot on the way back to the car for more than twice what I paid for it about 5 minutes earlier.

Had to go around back to find the unlocked door where the KMart employees came in. Ended up in front of the theater with the security gates closed. Eventually had a TV/VCR with Ep. 4 playing (had to wait until 8 or 9 when they unlocked the rest of the mall to go to the ATM to run into KMart to buy it), 2 computers playing Starcraft, and maybe 15 of us with pillows, sleeping bags and few games of euchre going on. Oh, and a lot of Mountain Dew, 2 or 3 cubes as I recall. There were a couple of guys behind us who made an hour and half drive to get there at 7:30 and be stuck behind us wackos. Of course, they brought chairs. By the time we started Ep.4 on theTV/VCR there was an audience of like 30 people watching it behind us. I remember the old people going in to work at KMart (and mallwalk) giving us some really strange looks.
It actually makes my memory of the movie a lot better.

Man, was it really that serious!?![]()
There's nothing I need or want that badly that I would do what some of the posters in here have done. Ok, maybe if computer and home theater parts were marked 90% off...but no less.![]()

Well, this definately wins the dorkiest camping out award. But the day is young and someone may yet top it!
