I camped out overnight in front of a GI Joes in Oregon to get tickets to see the Rolling Stones in Vancouver, B.C. There were probably 50 people in front of us and by the time we got to the ticket counter, they had already sold out. So 3 days later we found out the local radio station was going to be selling a package that included show tickets and a charter bus ride from Eugene, OR up to Vancouver for the show for like $85 each. So we camped out overnight again at the local theater that was selling the packages and we were able to get tickets. One of the best shows I've ever seen by the way.

I would never camp out for something I could just wait and buy later though.

I got to staples 2 hours early this past black Friday and was 3rd in line.

camped outside of compusa for 13 hours when Windows 98 came out...me and buddy were 4th and 5th line...got there at 11 am and waited til midnight...

we each got a PII 266 with 20 GB hard and 256 MB of memory for $99 (and for another $99, got a 14" inch monitor and a lexmark color inkjet printer)...plus got a some free Microsft stuff...

even got on the news...

wait a minute...should I be admitting this??

done the black friday thing at best buy a few times (got there around 4 in the morning)...

I've never camped, but I showed up to Office Depot about an hour before it opened for BF. Got some good stuff, a leather chair for $20, some freebies like a USB hub and nice cordless phone, and a 256MB USB key.

Last year, two friends and I camped out in front of Best Buy all night before Black Friday - we got there at about 11:30pm. We were the first in line, and people seemed to think we were crazy, we got interviewed by a news crew, etc. It was an experience, to be sure (it got down to 35°F or so, which is pretty cold for San Antonio) - and we'll probably do it again this year. Yes, we are crazy, no need to ask.
