Have you ever been let off for speeding?

A guy I know just got an Audi R8 and was pulled over doing 135 in 85. He just said it was a new car and the cop let him go.

It sounds like BS, but it would be cool if it was true 😀

On a road here that goes by a school (speed limit 40, who builds a school there?) there are always cops. I have seen people pass me just to get pulled over.

Lucky bastard. I got "let off" in the sense that I got caught doing 80 in a 65 and he knocked it down to 79 (80+ anywhere is reckless driving in VA). 2nd ticket to date (first was when I missed a yellow light by about 1/4 second).

You might think it's because I'm a girl, but the cop was gay. 😛

How did you know the cop was gay??

Something about the way he lisped everything, and the way he stood....I could be wrong but who the hell cares I got off without a speeding ticket! 🙂

First time I was pulled over at 17, I got let off for doing 40 in a 25. Other than that, never been pulled over for speeding. One time I was also pulled over by an unmarked car for doing a rolling stop at a stop sign in the middle of town. I couldn't believe it - nobody ever actually stops there, and there was no car coming.

I rear-ended an undercover cop when I was drinking, but was let go, because he wasnt allowed to testify and give up who he was.

A year later, I finally got a well-deserved DUI, and havent even had 1 drink and driven in 6 years since.

I was about to say, "No, I've never been let off for speeding, because I don't have a vagina." (b/c you know, that's how we assume the world works...)

But then I realized, there was this one time I was driving south through VA, state trooper pulled me over, claimed he's clocking me without radar (dude actually drove up next to me in left lane while I was on cruise control, about 20 feet behind another vehicle, and accelerated past me. Then he dropped off, merged into my lane, and tailgated my ass. Rinse, repeat, etc.)

I was probably going about 10 mph over (but it is VA: them bastards don't fuck around with their speed limit...just so you know), buddies in teh back seat had just pocketed about 7 empty beer cans, you know...because they'd been drinking for the previous 40 miles 😱

ST just walks up to my door, harasses me a bit, makes sure I'm impressed that he clocked me "without his radar," (I think I was 10 miles from the border, at this point), shuffles his belt a bit, conveniently ignores the shy yet obviously drunken rednecks in the back seat, and lets me on my way...as it were.

There was more he could have busted us on...potentially...but let's just leave it at that.

LOL.

This is probably the 1st one of your posts that I've believed was 100% truth!

🙂

yeah. went about 80 on a 65. my car was new and had no license plate yet, so i suspect that was the reason he let me off.

70 in a 55. Cop looked at me from where he was camping out and left me alone for reasons unknown to me, and since then I watch that spot he was at like a hawk. Stopped once for rolling a stop sign and I keep getting my plates ran like whenever they see me. Probably because I still haven't fixed my car from the wreck last Thanksgiving...

Yep.

[1] A long time ago - in a state far far away [Shawnee Mission, KS]- I think it was 55 in a 45 - pulled me over, checked my license, and let me go.
[2] Same state - I was idiotic and let a girl drive my car. Instead of looking at the speedometer, she was looking at the tach - 70mph in a 55mph. - no ticket, I think the policeman figured it would be too much of a hassle to ticket.
[3] Different state - much much later than previous incidents - 45 in what the police believed to be a construction zone [35]. Took my license then came back and said "You weren't in the construction zone, so I have to let you go"

The ONLY GD speeding ticket I've ever received was in a rental car. Just flew into San Jose on the late flight - I was jacked up on cold medz. I was doing 42 in a 35 and the cop pulled me over, took my license, and came back with a ticket [think it was about $83.00]. My guess it must have been a slow night or they needed $$$ for their daily donut fund.

Only been stopped once. It was in an industrial park close to my house that is has a public road with a couple nice turns and straights. The factories are closed on the weekends, so it's fairly secluded. Not enough though 🙂 Speed limit back there was 25, so I was going quite a bit over. He let me off with a warning that if he saw me back there again he'd arrest me, haha.

Interesting enough topic to up the post count eh?

so what your saying is if the cop was not gay that you would have recieved a ticket???

Kinda. I was clocked at a 112 in a 65 by a plane. It was the mother of all speed traps - cops had dozens of cars pulled over. Was late for working the company booth at a job fair in another city. I didn't get a speeding ticket but did get a reckless op. The boss hired a lawyer who turned out to be a family friend and buddies with the judge. Case magically disappeared.

You were doing fvcking one hundred and twelve miles per hour. That's no "speed trap". :Q

Gotta love the justice system...

Nope. I got a warning for a headlight being out once, but never got off for speeding. I've probably gotten 6 tickets or so in the 25+ years I've been driving. I'm still courteous but I no longer kiss ass since it gets me nowhere, and I resolutely refuse to say "Thank you" after he hands me the ticket 🙂

been let off 3x, once by hwy patrol doing 50 in a 45, LAME. then once by local police, for doing 42 in a 30, another by locals, doing 55 in a 45.

no speeding tickets on my record ;0

First time I got pulled over I was let go with a warning.

It was night on a 2-lane highway in a rural area. Headlights bear down on me from behind. I'm going 55 mph - the speed limit - but with the car behind me, my speed creeps up over 60. Think he clocked me at 62. Suddenly lights flash in my mirror, and I curse the darkness.
Sheriff asked if I'd ever been ticketed. I said "No" and he decided not to write one up. I was 22 then.
