Have there been any X800XL vs. 6600Gt reviews yet?

Considering the X800Xl is overall, a bit slower than the 6800GT, I was wondering how well the Radeon stacks up against 2x6600Gt....

2x6600gt is much slower at higer resolutions/ higher detail settings. at low res/detail, the dual 6600gts may edge out the x800xl but at higher than say, 10x7 with any aa or af on, the x800xl will beat it flat out.

btw, the x800xl is usuallya bit faster than the 6800gt but somewhat slower than the ultra in most tests. which ones are you getting your info from?

hmm. search up x800xl in google. it seems to ble plenty fast and usually beats out the 6800gt at Hardocp.com notice the minimum fps usually beats out the 6800gt. thats what you want to look for max and average dont tell you the whole picture. it may seem jerky if the minimum fps is too low. above 30-35 is a good number.

Who really gives a fvck if it is a little slower then a gt. its 300 dollers with 16 pipeline 6 shaders and stuff like that. Its basically a x800xt. Just buy a good cooler with ram heatsinks and overclock the hell out of it till it reaches xt speeds. It then will perform like x800xt.

Really? Where can you get one for $300?

Some people actually pay for their performance, and like to have a warranty. Not everyone "overclocks the hell" (and life) out of cards.

you should just get a bind for these posts 🙂. press "[" to bring everyone back to reality 😀

it's going to be a good card if it markets for the price it's supposed to be.... but since when has that happened to a pci-e card? 6800gt for example...

6600GT 😀

Thomas = pwned.

And yeah, I love Rollo. I'm a Rollo fanboy.

On the X800XL though, yes, it will be an amazing value at $300....if it ever ships. ATi has had EXCELLENT cards for the press to review over the last 6 months....just none for people to buy. High end PCIe GPUs are extremely hard to find and extremely expensive when you do though, I'll agree.

🙂

The X800XL would be a stellar deal at $300, and likely drive down the price of other cards if it shipped at that price point. There just aren't any at that price point yet.

WRONG

RIGHT

lmao... it only depends on how you're looking at it.

(hint: HL2 = ATI, duH)

but it still comes close at times to the 6800GT (for ~$100 cheaper MSRP). let's just hope it won't have the same fate as the X700XT.

What other cards are they going to drive down in price? The x800xt? Or are you referring to the Nvida cards that may be for sale at mrsp some day next year? This whole vaporware thing is pathetic and if the xl800 is produced in mass soon, it will own the market, as nothing else is available anywhere near that price range.

Don't forget the X800XL will be PCI-E only, I doubt it will "own" the market. Not everyone wants to upgrade their entire system. And the 6600GT has been out for a quite awhile for PCI-E and hardly anyone noticed it until the AGP version came out.

$319 6800GT

ATi needs to ship the parts very quickly if they want their part to be the kind of tier dominating part that the 6800GT has been for the last few months. When the 256MB 6800GTs are hitting the price point the 128MB varriants are already at(the 256MB full GTs are in the ~$365 range at the low end), the X800XL isn't going to look nearly as good as it does versus the MSRP from months ago.

WRONG

Now Tabb, you know that HL2 runs better on ATI hardware.

You just linked to the HL2 bench, but did you hit that little "next" button a few times to see the REST of the
benches? According to AT benches, the 6800GT is overall the "slightly" faster card. Even in Far Cry the 6800GT is ahead of the X800XL without AA/AF. When AA/AF is nuked the X800XL gets a whopping .3 frames per second above the 6800GT. This is at 1600x1200 btw.

I was guessing 6800GTs/NUs will come down in price if X800XLs are easily available at MSRP (and in AGP), as the XLs offer similar performance to GTs at NU pricing.

Ben, this card you linked to will only be as fast as a successfully modded 6800nu to 16px6vp.
It wont stack up to the X800XL very well.

The only card that can offer direct performance competition to the X800XL is the real 6800GT.

At a 319.00 dollar price point, I would easily choose the X800XL over that 16 pipe 128MBDDR 700MHz

These are the cards I'm watching:

6800 GT
Sapphire X800 XT (non PE version)
X800 XL

In PCI-Express.

My pick is the Sapphire card.

I have no faith in ATI's MSRP numbers. They are imaginary. They mean nothing. I think it will be a long time before the X800 XL is anywhere near MSRP.

I doubt we will ever see the x800xl. All of the links for the x800xl on dealtime and other shopping sites are broken, with etailers web pages saying something like "Product Discontinued" or "This page no longer exists on our server".

The product was announced over a month ago (December 15th was the Anandtech article) and all there is to show for it is a buch of broken links and "Discontinued" products.

One thing to note, however, is ATI still has the product listed on their x800 product page. Im tired of the lies.

Is it just me or did we all just get duped again?

*eats own foot*

alright alright, i'll save myself the tounge lashing and admit defeat, I just can't wait till i can get one of these

Why even the comparison? You can either have the performance now, or endlessly wait for something new.

Seriously, by the time ATi releases the x800xl to where you can actually get one shipped to your home, they will have the x850xl announced that when released will also be at the $300 level (the x800xl will then drop to $250) & perform 20% better than the x800xl. So you might just as well wait until ATi releases the x850xl. But by the time the x850xl is released, nVidia will have a 6850 series of gpus coming that would put a 6850GT at a much more attractive price / performance level than the x850xl, so you're just going to wait it out for that too.

Bottom line, the 6800GT is the better card simply because it exists.

Quoted for Sad Truth.

I was going to get an x800XL, but ATi is too busy trying to sell me ink on paper, so I bought a 6800GT Golden Sample from the FS/T forums.

I'm not biased, but from a business standpoint, they just lost some money.

You found a pci e 6800gt? Or were you going to upgrade your mb for the x800xl? Most will buy pci e if new and if upgrading will likely continue with agp, unless a super deal comes along.
