i think its very sad that the girl died, as well as the parents are morons for not getting modern medical help. but i also dont condemn them for their beliefs. religious beliefs are all about faith and being tested on that faith. im not a religious person, but i wouldnt have much respect for them if they started out saying that their god will heal all and then when it gets a bit tough they back pedal and say "woops, mebbe we should try out some pills for this one". at least they stuck to their beliefs, however wrong you or i feel they may be.

The government couldn't step in, they didn't know it was happening (I'm guessing, can't read the article, websense).
The law has no common sense. From a legal stand point the parents may not have done anything wrong and taking their still living children away is not legal. There needs to be a common sense law that overrides other laws when necessary (and word it just like that).
Is modern medicine in the bible? I thought not. Blasphemy!

A new age church, they're probably the leaders or founders, doesn't matter though.

Let me explain to you guys how the media works. They tell outright lies in order to sell copy. Why do they do that? Because the truth is boring. What they do is they start with the boring truth, which is the actual news, and then spin the importance of some small and usually irrelevant aspect of that in order to make it and interesting to get your attention and (most importantly) to generate outrage. That makes you angry, which releases adrenaline, which becomes addictive. In the end, the media is just pushers to adrenaline junkies.
This is a tragic instance of child abuse. There will unfortunately be many today. And we might be able to deal with and address the causes of such, but the adrenaline junkies are too busy pretending this is something else so they can get their regular hate fix.

As time goes on these groups will have less reproductive success than normal people, therefore through evolution they will eventually be driven to extinction. Kind of funny that they will eventually be wiped out by something they probably don't believe in.

A man was hiking high on a mountain and came to the summit. As he was walking towards the ledge, it gave way and he began falling. Fearing his life he prayed to God saying: "God please help me - I know I haven't been the best person and I don't ask for much but please help me and I promise that I will change my life!"
Just seconds later a branch growing out of the side of the mountain caught onto the strap on his lucky backpack and stopped his fall. The man looked up and said: "Nevermind God, I've got it handled."
It's just ridiculous. I don't see how they can't believe that medicine isn't evil, etc. There are plenty of Christian doctors and researchers. If they believe in an all powerful God, then they should believe that the medicine to cure someone only exists because God has allowed it to exist.
Though they could say that it is a temptation from the Devil but....I dunno how these people come up with any ideas like this anywhere in the Bible.
Yes He did. But He also said not to test God.
I would think that if a simple, well known cure to a problem is readily available - there wouldn't really be the need to ask for some miracle.
If they are dying of an untreatable cancer and have 2 days to live - that's something to pray for a miracle about.

The scene was repeated twice more, before a helicopter finally arrived and hovered over him. Once again, the man refused help on the same grounds ... God would save him.
The man finally drowned and as he crossed the Pearly Gates he gazed into God's eyes with obvious confusion.
"I placed my faith in you and you let me drown," he complained.
"Let you drown?", exclaimed God. "I sent three boats and a helicopter."
Culling the herd, it's a shame the kid died instead of the parents though.

Freedom of religion? Abuse how? They believe in their god and not modern medicine. In all areas of the law, your children are effectively your property, so it's their call.
Shall we go round up all the children from all of the remote areas of the world where just the same thing, and what most of us would find far more barbaric things occur all the time, and save them?
It's sad to me that there are still people that believe in hokey crap like god, or worse, that he is affecting your life, but it is much sadder to me, despite all of the history we have at our disposal, that so many amoung us feel that we should dictate people's beliefs simply because we think we know better.
