Lobster is disgusting. It tastes like fucking dirt mixed with fish piss drowned in salt water and sewage doused in butter (if you opt for the butter that is).

Crab on the other hand is god-like. It is the sweetest, most succulent of seafoods there is.

I don't care much for fish, but I will eat fried shrimp or scallops. Scallops are pretty awesome.

I'm an oddity. I love lobster, crab, scallops, shrimp, sea cucumber, dried squid/cuttlefish, and most fish. I can't stand clams, oysters, mussels.

You may also consider trying any of those as they're prepared in Asian dishes. It may be a more palatable experience for you.

I don't like fish and like lobster. Give it a shot. Also worth a try is swordfish if you're generally not a fish person. Its much more like a land animal in texture.

Hmm I may actually be more interested in crab now than lobster.

And yeah I think I'll try a decent steakhouse or seafood restaurant because I know one thing, whatever I end up trying this weekend..if it sucks...I'm done with seafood for life! So I might as well give myself the best possible odds.

You know, if you can't afford to go into a restaurant just to try out lobster and crab, well, I don't know what to say for you. I think you got bigger problems than figuring out what you like.

Please direct me to my post saying I can't afford it, thanks.

Try shrimp first. It's more mild. If you're OK with that, graduate to lobster as it has a similar texture.

Next time the OP goes to a seafood restaurant, he should ask for a plate of Lobster Tamale <giggle>

I don't get how you can "not like fish". It's a massive difference between, say, tuna and cod. Between smoked salmon and oven-baked salmon. Fresh and store-stored. Anyways:

Crab, lobster and shrimp don't taste "fishy". It's pretty much impossible to say what they taste like, but all of them really do taste great if not overcooked. Start with shrimp and find a recipe that you think you'll enjoy then move up the line to prawn (a large shrimp), crab and lobster.

I prefer crab to lobster, not as sweet and just taste more.

If you're going to eat crab, stick with steamed king crab legs or whole dungeness crab. But I wouldn't order it at a restaurant. Restaurants will probably charge you like $40/lb for 14/17 count king crab legs. That's equivalent to $80/lb for king crab meat considering half of the weight of the leg is the shell. Just buy the legs at places like Costco or Sam's Club for $20/lb and eat it at home. The legs are already cooked so you just have to reheat and eat. You can even microwave it. It's simple. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/steamed-alaskan-king-crab-claws-recipe/index.html

followed by catfish, salmon, perch, bass etc...

A good beginner fish for the OP would be sole. Very mild...it takes on the flavor of whatever you serve it with.

The argument for halibut is usually one sided (<---- fish joke)

Exactly, there are hundreds of types of fish that are eaten, and there's a huge difference between a can of tuna and a grilled tuna steak.

Let me put it this way. I've had about 6 different types of fish in my life, as well as tuna. I think they're all revolting. I don't have the will to keep looking for that one fish that I may like...doesn't seem worth it.

Crustaceans on the other hand, I think I can learn to enjoy.
