This is exactly what I want compared. I want to pick up a new device to mess around with, and all I want it to be able to do is handle very light gaming from steam. I'm between either the Asus T100 or running crouton on the Chromebook 14 from HP. The T100 is about 40-50% underpowered where I'd ideally like it to be with regards to the GPU, and finding any information out about the 2955u in the Chromebook is like finding a needle in a haystack. Either device would be neat to mess around with though I guess.
the you should look at the amd a6-1450 in the acer v5-122p or hp touhsmart 11z. the gpu on those are more powerful....and all I want it to be able to do is handle very light gaming from steam.
do not intend to derail this thread but

remember that the a6-1450 beats the z3740 in single threaded workloads[wow the mobile and desktop are completely reversed].The a6-1450 has such a slow CPU (1.4 ghz boost on one core) that it will be unable to hit 30 fps period on many/most games.
remember that the a6-1450 beats the z3740 in single threaded workloads[wow the mobile and desktop are completely reversed].
z3740 cinebench single=0.31 multi=1.48
a6-1450 cinebench single=0.33 multi=1.02
then the gpu has 1.5-2.5x more performance.
the atom has more bandwidth though...
so even with the multithreading advantage, there is no way that the z3740 can compete with a6-1450 in 3d workloads.

the closest could find in perf to the 2955u is the celeron 1017u http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-Aspire-V5-131-10172G50akk-Notebook.102564.0.html
they got cinebench 8.21fps vs a6-1450 9.50fps, the celeron does have better cpu perf though

And the GPU is not close to 2x as fast.
With lower CPU clocks (1-1.4 ghz single core) and a weaker gpu (300-400 mhz) vs 500 mhz at lower power the z3740 is solid.

Notebook check is pretty good for getting a rough idea. Should have similar CPU performance to the 1007U that's been out for a while. Unfortunately I don't know any complete reviews of the 1007U but an internet search should produce some specific application results.
As SPBHM points out the HD Graphics in the 2955U consists of 10 EUs meaning it is a decent bump up from the HD2500 6EU based HD Graphics in the 1007U. Definitely much stronger than the graphics of Bay Trail.
For the 34789304987th time, PRICE is the problem only A4-1250 versions are offered at Dell 11 3000 and T100, while the A6-1450 is good enoght compared to a BT, the devices prices are not, you cant even compare it with BT if i can get a 2955U for much less.
the two devices you mentioned are at $400 with A4-1250, T100 is a $349, 11 3000 is a $379, it does not matter the features they may have, the performance difference is large, especially with 2955U.
and i dont belive the A4-1250 is any better than BT on games by a margin that worth something.
ok another comparison cpu can be the i3-2375m
cinebench multi=1.30-1.43 gl=7.5fps
