Has your taste in music changed over the years?

I mean, did you like some weird music in high school where now you look back and wonder WTF? Or has your preference in music pretty much been consistent throughout your life?

^^
Expanded from what I used to like ~10 years ago, to incorporate both the old stuff, and lots of new stuff.
I still listen now to what I used to listen to as long ago as I remember.

When I listen to the music I liked then, I find out that I like it more, because I didn't really appreciate it- especially the lyrics- when I was young.

Grade school: Whatever was played around me, jazz, classical, r&b, soul

High school: rock and rock& roll

College: rock then blues, jazz, and classical

Now: Blues, jazz, rock & roll, r&b, soul, and classical

I'm a classical nut and I have been since middle school. I do like some modern stuff, but the people have to be able to sing/play in tune.

Over the last 20 years I went from rock->hip hop->hardcore punk->punk->rock so you can so I came full circle.

If I liked it 30 years ago, I still like it today, that doesn't change. Some of the artists I listened to 30+ years ago are STILL touring! Aerosmith, Blondie, Bowie, Clapton, Eagles, Eno, Floyd, Iggy, Ozzy, Roxy, Stones... 🙂

My favorites were/are:I got a kick out of a lot of the one hit wonders from the '80s. After that, not much interested me. Maybe Enya once in a while. I like watching Shania, but I don't think that counts. REM is fine and Garbage is acceptable. Sarah McLachlan and Dido once in a blue moon.

I listen to an old classic album or two while mowing the lawn, but generally just listen to classic rock or oldies stations on my 10 minute commute. My taste has stayed about the same, but music has changed a lot... mostly for the worse!

My tastes have expanded quite a bit. I used to listen to rock and folk. Now it's rock, folk, early music, polyphonic, shape note, asian, west african, blues, andean, sephardic, middle eastern, black gospel.

Still hate country for the most part and jazz (except Nina Simone) upsets my stomach. I now recognize rap as a music form but I don't like it. Gamelon music is still the aural equivalent of waterboarding.

I'm a walking hypocrite.

When I was younger (13?) I always thought my brother's taste in music was terrible. He was listening to Metal and I thought it sounded like utter crap. Now I listen to the exact same things as he used to. It's kind of...scary. I'm slightly worried though, because now he listens to rap. I hope I never go through that stage...

But yeah, I used to listen to The Backstreet Boys and other happy bands when I was little...not anymore.

Definitely. I usually go through a big change in the music I listen to every 4 years or so. Middle school was rock, high school was the rave stuff, and college is hip-hop. Now I'm starting to get into Jazz, soul, funk, older stuff.

a lot. went through hip hop, classic rock, metal, punk, and oldies phases. now i appreciate a lot of genres and can listen to just about anything.
