I think you people all of a very skewed definition of what a libertarian is.

lib·er·tar·i·an (lbr-târ-n)
1. One who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state.

Now if you talking about the libertarian party here is a link the overviews their beliefs.

http://www.lp.org/platform

What would your requirements for a libertarian country be? That really makes no more sense then show me a republican country or a democrat country that has been successful. I suppose the closest thing we could say is the US back in the day had a very limited government, but I dont know if you would really call that libertarian.

Feudalism is closest economically - don't know what you mean by success. Works for the manner lords and stuff.

People who equate libertarian with anarchy or feudalism are either intentionally being misleading, or woefully ignorant.

Libertarianism SUPPORTS a strong and organized central government to protect individual rights.

There is NO SUCH THING as sustained anarchy. Anarchy only results in the first and strongest criminal taking control.

Amused is so wrong in saying, "There is NO SUCH THING as sustained anarchy. Anarchy only results in the first and strongest criminal taking control."

When in fact anarchy is far more democratic than that, and can accommodate more than one group in exploiting the general public. Why argue about which group rips us all off first or second, it all fits nicely under the libertarian umbrella of do nothing.

Again you are confused. What part of "protect individual rights" did you not understand?

Amused asks, "Again you are confused. What part of "protect individual rights" did you not understand?"

And I ask what part of Utopian pie in the sky bullshit do you believe in? Surely not in the real world example of Iraq and Afghanistan that created the very problems we now face.

Gotta admit, Iraqi and Afghani insurgents believe in libertarian principles, or at least the set of rascals that make out like gangbusters.

And now I have to ask, exactly what thread wisdom insight did Motf Bane add in asking, "MotF Bane asks, "Is quoting that fucking difficult?"

In short, how I choose to quote has nothing logically to do with anything. But if you are offended in how I quote, please let me know so I can call you a whambalence.

But wait, you already did, now grow a brain and address the points raised logically or give up on your senseless side points deflections.

The point is and remains, does Rand Paul have a sell able political agenda or will even Kentucky give him a seal of rejection dope slap?

Um, no. The terrorists believe in an Islamic theocracy (Taliban) or fascist secular government (Bathist).

You fail, yet again, to understand what "protect individual rights" means. Maybe you simply have no concept of what individual rights are and can only conceptualize a collective?

No, Amused, I am a realist and do not see a dimes worth of difference between Christian and Islamic exploiters, and if you think Rand Paul do nothing policies will do a damn thing to protect us from human nature piggishness, others but not I have have some Ocean front lots in Utah sell gullible you.

In short because you buy the Rand and Ron Paul pie in the sky never tested delusions hook line and sinker, is no reason for anyone else to be as foolish as you.

As ole PT Barum said, there is a sucker born every minute. And you are seemingly one of them. Cheer up, you are not alone, but can you muster a majority in KY come November?

The U.S....pre-1776. After the Libertarians got elected, they became dems and repubs cause the bribs were a LOT better and so were the benefits and other perks:)

"Consequently, we defend each person's right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings."

"Government exists to protect the rights of every individual including life, liberty and property."

Right from the libertarian website that I linked earlier.
It dosent = anarchy, and it dosent support killing, and injuring of other people. Its very much based on personal freedom so long as you dont use your freedom to destroy the freedom of others.

It is so funny to me how much the freedom of others scares the crap out of you.

Again, libertarianism is a STRONG government protecting the freedoms and rights of individuals. There is nothing "do nothing" about that. Everyone is free to do as they please so long as they harm no one else nor infringe on their rights.

But you need more than that, don't you? You need control. Some people act and think in ways you don't like, and you want to control that, don't you?

How funny that "liberal" in today's society has come to mean "authoritarian."

Keep lying to all of us if you need to, but your use of the non-word "bafoon" for "buffoon" was not a typo or a simple misspelling.

It's common Engrish.

You were let down by your schools, your parents, and even your peers. Now you are letting yourself down. That last part is just sad.

lmao

Should I just send you PMs everytime somebody misspells something then?

Where do Libertarians stand on drug legalization and assisted suicide?

If a State would elect a Libertarian Government, it would likely Make or Break the movement. Perhaps if people are serious about it they should start there rather than going for the unachievable leap to the Federal?

"We favor the repeal of all laws creating "crimes" without victims, such as the use of drugs for medicinal or recreational purposes."

I'm assuming the same would go for assisted suicide.

I suppose Ron Paul is about as close as your going to get in the mainstream(yes i know Ron Paul isnt mainstream at all), anyone who has libertarian beliefs pretty much has to run under the republican flag if they have any chance of being elected. There may be a few more out there, but they may be masked having had to adopt more social conservative stances to survive in the real world.

What would that be?

You wanna-be libertarians aren't any better than your Che sporting brethren and are nearly as naive to boot.
