If you prefer games on the PC (i.e. FPS's), then that is YOUR personal preference and has nothing to do with your determination that consoles "suck."
FPS, RTS, RPG, sim, etc... Nothing really against consoles other than PCs own them hands down.
then what does the PC have to compare with PGR2, ESPN NHL/NBA/NFL, Top Spin, Dead or Alive 3, Soul Calibur, SSX3, Amped 2, etc...
Far Cry, Doom3, HL2, etc and so on...

Some of us like to play sports games ya know..in which case, Console owns. Party/puzzle games, console. FPS, PC. RTS, PC. RPG, Tie. Sim, Tie. Plaformers, Console.

All I really play is sports games on my console, and I'd much rather play someone IRL sitting right next to me than play some dope online who plays like a moron, and quits halfway through the game.

True that. At least I can trash talk in their face and risk having a controller hurled at my head. The physical danger aspect of playing against your friend within the same vicinity is incredible.

You just listed three FPS games (that aren't even out yet)... How you figure those compare to racing, sports, snowboarding, and fighting games is beyond me.

FPS' flourish on the PC, which is why you think the PC "owns" consoles. However, there are other genres that the consoles are better at. Although somehow you are unable to grasp that.

Personally, I choose to play great games... No matter what system they are on.

Speaking of... I have four good friends who are awaiting to play PGR2 online. I think I'll go sit in my living room, crank up a custom in-game soundtrack, and chat with them while we race. :)

yeah, i feel like it has. i got rid of mine and got an xbox instead. they all get most of the same games anyways, except they look better on the xbox.

I would do that, but the games I play (EA sports) don't do online on the Xbox, and i'm not used to the controller. I also thought I would wait until the next gen of systems came out..possibly this year?

*ahem*.... wait for EA/MS in 2005... *ahem*...

I think it ended after Vice City and GT3.

Nothing really ground braking about the console. Computer games hold the future.

  • The way that PGR2 seamlessly implements itself into online play (single player statistics, etc...) is actually quite groundbreaking.
  • Xbox Live's real time voice communication is groundbreaking.
  • Tournaments via XSN Sports is very impressive.
As for computer games... My God, they've been so dry for years. There has been NOTHING to get excited about in a long time. Well, there's always something around the corner... But it never really seems to deliver.

I can Agree with you there a little. Even though there are many who won't, as you can imagine with such a bold statement. Al though, I can say that I haven't yet played a game that I think I enjoyed better than Resident Evil 2 on the original Playstation. As for saying PC game developers won't deliver for the future is speculation, pre-judgmental, and I think its also consummated by one's taste.

But it seems I spun the thread a little off topic. Lets keep the original PSX and X-Box out of the equation.

has PS2 reached its lifespan?

With Silent Hill 4, GTA4, and GT4 around the corner, I don't think so. Not yet.

I don't like my PS2 because whenever I play March Madness I always lose. I play as K-State and I always lose to KU. EVERYTIME and IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!! This doesn't happen to me when I use an XBOX. I hate the hawks, GO WILDCATS!!!!!

The PS2 was at the end of its lifespan a year and a half ago. There has been almost no improvement in the quality of games that have come out for it. The last great PS2 game I played was The Mark of Kri. I haven't seen anything worth a damn since.

Oh, and the PS2 controller is the flimsiest piece of crap. Granted I'm a bit rough on my controllers, but I broke 2 of them without even trying. My Xbox controller... it hurts me :Q

Xbox live signed the PS2s death certificate. It has and always will be better than Sonys online setup. There are just too many good things about it.

For the record, I own a Xbox, PC, and a Dreamcast. I used to have a PS2 and Gamecube, but they were sold to make room for games worth half a damn.

Well, I guess the PS2 Hard drive will be released march 23rd of this year. It comes pre loaded with the Final Fantasy MMORPG, and can be used for music and other digital media storage. I will be upset if you cannot use the hard drive as a "memory card".
