Who, besides me, gets angry when they hear the phrase "jump the shark"? For some reason this statement makes me angry.

I think you should write a manifesto about it and start blowing things up.

Ironically, I also hate that phrase because 90% of the people who use it don't even know WTF it comes from and use it improperly to try to sound all elitist and cool.

Calm down Fonzie. It will be ok.

What's funny is, jumptheshark.com has a 'what does 'jump the shark' mean' section, that doesn't touch on fonzie whatsoever.

Well, although I could care less, I would at least like to know how such a stupid ass phrase came into being since it makes me angry. At least let me understand the root of my frustration. Once properly educated, I may write my manifesto. I think I'll title it:

How "Fvck off and die" jumped the shark: A story of verbal hell. :D

Google it, but include the word fonzie to get the real context.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark

The phrase refers to a scene in a three-part episode of the American television series Happy Days first broadcast on September 20, 1977. In the "Hollywood" episode, Fonzie ? wearing swim trunks and his trademark leather jacket ? jumps over a tank containing a shark while on water skis.

Many have noted the shark episode as the moment when they realized the show was no longer worth watching, when it became impossible to maintain a certain suspension of disbelief.

I'm going to use that phrase out of context in every post I make for the rest of the day, if I can somehow make it work in any fathomable way.

Who besides me, gets angry when they hear someone say "I could care less" when they really mean "I couldn't care less"? For some reason incorrect use of idioms makes me angry.

Maybe he could care less but doesn't want to put forth the effort for something so pointless.

Who besides me hates the word "idiom"? It's sound like it should mean "something an idiot said" but it doesn't so that pisses me off.

I enjoyed last night's show. Then again, I'd missed last weeks' (but did catch the rerun of it last night) and didn't really see anything of the last season.

Much the same could be said about the rampant improper use of the term "irony".

i read an interview in rolling stone about lost where the producer last season ADMITTED that many plot lines lead NOWHERE and are NOT RELATED.

after reading that and getting sooo frustrated watching questions develop but never get answered, i have "lost" all interest in the show...
